    all rainbows today so let's get started so to make a rainbow cake
    we're going to need prepared buttercream and prepared vanilla cake batter bowl
    these can be found on our channel and will provide the links below
    we're going to be using red orange yellow green blue and purple

    and they give really vibrant colors to your cake so try those ones out if you
    haven't before
    we're going to using six different balls in order to dive both
    %uh are buttercream and the cake batter
    for decorating the cake I'm going to be using it

    you can use any size what you want and for all the cakes I'm going to be making
    each other in an 8-inch round pan so let's get started
    the first thing we need to do is to divide the batter equally into the six
    different polls because each fully colored a different color
    so just using a standard cookie scoop I'm just going to you
    divided equally into all the cake batter is
    out at the mall after the
    cake batters all evenly distributed you want to be. is even as you can
    so that each layer on the cake is going to be pretty much the exact same size
    so now you want to put each different color into the ball
    starting off with the orange yellow
    green

    you going to follow the exact same steps that we did before
    making the cake batter colored you're going to divided up into six equal parts
    and color each with each different color I'm

    all the buttercream and leave it for I see in between the layers
    and then color the rest up so all other cream-colored

    left up the side and that's going to be used in between the layers

    and created the rainbow up cake
    so I finish stacking all the layers with the buttercream
    and at this point the cake is very unstable because of the amount of butter
    cream in between each layer
    so before I do my crumb coat I'm going to put it in the freezer
    to let it freeze solidly and then I'll be able to apply my from Cote much
    each year so now the cake is frozen
    it's gonna be much easier to apply the crumb coat
    so I'm just going to the really thin layers going to have lots of icing
    on the outside with the pedal defect so I'm just going to cover the whole entire
    cake like this
    really lightly and then I'm going to show you how to do the pedal effect

    today may show you how to make this three layer pink hombre heart-shaped
    cake for Valentine's Day
    this looks a lot more complicated than actually is so let me show you how easy
    is to bake and decorate this cake
    these the meeting to meeting so let's get started
    the first thing to do is get our cakes ready
    I've made up some white cake mix here you can either do this from a package
    makes or you can make it from scratch like I did
    if you skate mix from a box it ends up using two boxes
    and once you get that mixed up you want to divide that equally into three
    equal portions for my cake mix it up being about
    I love cake batter if you use in a box makes it ends up being about two and
    three quarters of a cop
    up cake batter for each layer now once you get your battered divided into three
    equal portions you can color this up
    I'm gonna be doing 3 varying shades of pink
    a dark pink medium pink and a very very light pink
    I wanna start of here with the median pay Inc and I'm using America colors
    gel food coloring in super red for the median pay company
    one drop the cigarette and their going to mix this up
    well make sure that there is no streaks on their for our top player the lightest
    paint I'm gonna be using one
    scoop above the median paint I was gonna plan that into the white cake batter
    and adult ent this just ever so slightly pink
    event for the dark is paying I ended up using
    about four drops I'll the super rad and I gave me a nice deep pink color
    now since this is a heart-shaped cake I'm going to be using heart-shaped cake
    pans for this
    you can buy these relatively inexpensive at Michaels Hobby Lobby
    even wal-mart sells them now and these games are
    heart-shaped cake pans
    now wanna make sure that these cakes come out nice and clean up and so on
    where to line the bottom with some parchment paper
    not to make a template for these arms to invert the pan under a piece of
    parchment
    trace around the outside and then cut it out so if it's nice and snug into the
    bottom of the pan
    and when I get those templates cut out online too lightly grease the bottom the
    peeing on
    it up a little bit more special shortening around the outsides
    because again we want to make sure that these come out nice and clean gonna take
    my parchment here
    and Yann to smooth out any air bubbles that may be in there
    and I was in a poor my cake batter right in there
    they can get three PM's and bake all these layers at one time or you can just

    you can go ahead and let them cool for about five minutes in the pan and then
    turn on out onto a wire rack and let them cool completely
    and once they are completely cool I'm going to level off the top
    loved each layer how to make sure that each player sits perfectly flat and the
    best way to do that is to level of top of the cake
    was going to use a knife and skim off the very top layer up the cake
    now works best if you use a serrated knife I don't have one that's large
    enough for this so I'm using large knife that I have

    I'm up to my first layer which is the darkest pink almost a red color
    right down on top that i'm gonna proceed down make sure it's well adhered to the
    plate
    but I may take some more butter cream and I'm gonna lightly frost the top of
    the house
    I'm using an offset spatula for this this is the best tool for this job
    there'll a couple dollars a craft stores are even Walmart
    are you can see is a butter knife for this or a regular spatula that's
    perfectly fine
    by find all sorts bachelor to work past I was gonna put a nice
    even layer of buttercream right on top about a quarter of an inch they curse
    I'll
    and this will help to glue are layers together once I get that on a smooth out
    of a little bit
    make sure there's no big lumps or anything and I'm just taking the
    frosting right up to the edge
    not gonna take my second layer here which is the median pay Inc
    and if I didn't mention it before make sure take the parchment paper of

    stays in place but again you wanna go ahead and frost the top of this
    making sure to again get about a quarter inch layer of frosting on their
    and then you want to finish off with your top layer
    now you notice that I am putting these layers Bayside down

    up that tends to be a smoother surface and its easier to frost
    so that's why I'm doing it like that and again you want to cross this down
    make sure it secured nicely to the layer below
    now for the top layer you don't need quite as much frosting on there because
    we're just grab
    incorporate that top layer of frosting into Arkham cope
    you want to make sure that the top your cake is completely covered
    and now I'm gonna start worrying about getting this nice and smooth
    because this will be the foundation for all of our decorative paper in
    and now I'm gonna put a layer of frosting around the outside edge up the
    cake
    and again this is going to be part of the crime coat and this is where it is
    really really nice and handy
    to use an offset spatula because it works perfectly for the house
    so using my offset spatula I was gonna take the buttercream
    and put a nice even layer all the way around the outside the cake
    and you want to make sure inch much that frosting into between the layers
    so you don't have any air pockets are air gaps in their
    and basically what this does is it seals all the loose crumbs
    into the cake so it doesn't end up in your finished frosting
    and the decorative frost in the people on the outside but this isn't too
    terribly important with this particular decorating technique
    because not be working the buttercream you know a whole lot
    but I still like to do it because it does give a nice even clean
    foundation about my piping on now is when you're leveling off the cakes
    you happen to have a piece that broke off for whatever and
    what are your layers is kinda shallow on one side now is the time to fill it in
    with that frosting
    another benefit of doing a crumb coat news wanna go all the way around the
    cake
    and get a nice even layer on there it doesn't have to look pretty because it's
    all gonna be covered up
    it doesn't matter if there's crumbs an actor or the cake is showing
    because again its all gonna be covered up use when I get a nice clean coat
    all the way around now for the top I misguided
    kinda let a lot of and some that frosting is going to go over the edge
    that's perfectly fine to school along the edge in scrape it off patent
    make sure you get a nice sharp point there because whatever shape your takers
    and now
    whatever shape you make it is going to be what the show in a shape up your cake
    is going to be
    and once you come code on he wanna go ahead let this dry for a couple hours
    before you start typing out the decorative paper hanging
    I'm gonna take the remainder of my frosting here I'm going to divided
    evenly
    in
    equal portions and I'm going to again color this
    into three varying shades up paint
    I'm also gonna leave wine portion white and just go ahead and play around with
    the
    coloring and amounts needed to get a nice gradations pink
    you are a very dark paying kinda but darkish medium pink
    a light pink and then finally just white which he won't need any food coloring
    for
    and once you get that all mixed up you wanna go ahead and put these in a pastry
    bags
    and in my pastry bag I've got

    in there
    made by well trained as a large round tap and I'm gonna be doing my entire
    cake with that tap
    know this really helps if you use four different peace tree bags for this
    highly doubt wind up so I had to wash between each layer
    was kind of a pain but I managed to do
    now for that Decker frosty I'm gonna be doing what they call a paddle
    design and I'm gonna be doing desk from
    bottom to top instead of around like mostly on break takes that are out there
    for this particular shape I'd for the heart shape I just kinda like going from
    up and down rather than side to side it's looks better to me
    but this is a very simple technique all you're gonna do is pay pal
    little dots around your cake about three-quarters of an inch wide
    and you want to make sure I'm put those little dots right next to each other so
    they'd
    just barely touch and this is going to be the foundation for the rest of your
    cake so you want to make sure that this
    beginning row is absolutely perfect and spaced perfectly because once you get go
    in.
    you can't change it I was gonna go all the way around the cake
    making these all dots a frosting and once you get all the way back around to
    the beginning
    his time to happen at check now again this is where the offset spatula really
    comes in handy
    I'm just gonna press this into the dot to the frosting
    and as I press a into the dot I'm going to Paul
    up along the cake they wanna be careful with this because you don't wanna press
    too hard
    and end up mixing the the outer layer of frosting with the crumb coat
    that ends up making kind of a mass so is very lightly pressing poll up
    now if you opted not to use in offset spatula for this
    you can use a butter knife for this or you could even just use the back of a
    spoon and I would be perfectly fine to
    it'll give you the same a fact and I was gonna go all the way around
    mashing and pulling these dots up and this is what creates the little paddles
    and once you've got all the pedals made on the first row you can go ahead and
    start the second
    I would be using the same color here cuz I'm gonna do to rosa
    each color until we get to the top enright about each petal
    annoyed made another dot about three-quarters of an inch wide
    again until they just barely touch you want to do this about it inch above were
    the bottom of the pedal of the row below years
    you wanna keep in mind that when you mash this down and pull it up to create
    the pad all
    it does kinda pushed the road down just a little bit so keep that in mind when
    you're doing this
    and again I'm just gonna take my offset spatula and press it down at the top of
    each
    little daughter frosting and pull straight up
    now you may notice that you're going around you start getting let's talk lump
    is on the edge

    that eliminate those little bumpy is and keep going all the way around it to your
    finished with that
    row now for the middle Robert be using the
    middle shade of pink and again I'm just gonna
    pop the little blob the frosting out

    is you know if you give you start out at two inches
    down from the top you wanna make sure that you stay two inches down all the
    way around
    so that well I know it's kinda confusing and I don't explain it well but
    you just wanna make sure that your rows are nice and level
    that when you change colors that is particularly important to wipe off your
    spatula
    quite often you know what the color the frosting from the row below
    makes again with the color that you do it now one
    lighted up doing two rows at the medium pink and I'm gonna top this with the
    latest bank
    and once we get to these top players you kinda even yourself out if you didn't
    stay level
    in the earlier rose so there is some some leeway there
    now for the very last row of paddles on the site over Kate
    I miss Cup paid about the little dollop of frosting right at the top of the cake
    and a slice trust keep those layers nice and level all the way around
    because this is when it really starts to show up if you didn't keep them level
    another thing to keep in mind when you're doing this last rose petals
    is that you wanna scrape off your spatula between each petal
    you will have a lot of frosting that comes off because you're not smearing it
    up the side of the cake
    and you don't want to take over the top educator so just wipe it off on your
    finger
    between each petal and then we are done with the sides
    now it's time to concentrate on the top now the top of the cake I'm gonna be
    using the white frosting
    and I'm gonna piped up all dollops of frosting on the berry
    edge up the cake told all it's actually go
    kinda half way of the cake down the side in about half of it stays on the top
    and again you want to make sure that these lined up with the grow beneath um
    you put a little dollop of frosting on top of each petal
    now for the top I'm just gonna be polling little paddles straight into the
    inside
    up the cake at the same time when I'm pressing the spatula into the dollop of
    raw staying
    kinda pressing down a little bit and that will make the trip up at all
    kinda fall down over the side of the cake at the same time
    because the real economy to fact was gonna go through an
    finish of all these now for the specs for a white
    you really don't have to worry too much about the placement of the dollops a
    prostate
    you just want to make sure that they are evenly spaced all the way around the
    cake
    they don't have to line up with the row before you still want them next to each
    other in touching
    and again three quarters image size dollop frosting

    of the cake
    you wanna keep going all the way around to you get all those little puddles
    formed on the SRO
    and I'm gonna switch out to the light pink and again
    pipe out a little Roo's dollops all the way around
    and again not worrying about if they line up with the road before
    you wanna go all the way around informal heart-shaped
    at that inside corner I like to leave it blank until I get the
    frosting forget the pedals pulled out and then I'll part
    there for the point
    and pull that out and i'm looking to do one row at the white pink
    and I'm gonna finish this up using one row of the dark pink
    and this is where it gets kinda tricky polling these pedals
    to the inside because there's not a whole lot around their budgets cannot
    work out a man getting pulled towards the centre
    make sure you clean off thats Bachelot well and then finally for the very
    centre
    using the very darkest pink almost a red
    I'm going to piped out a heart shape basically all you do is
    place a piping tip a quarter inch above the cake
    pipe out
    poll away at the same time
    and that will finish up the Sun is your take very nice lady

    Welcome To How To Cook That, I am Ann Reardon today we are going to be decorating a super
    easy pink ombre buttercream cake. The first thing you are going to have to do
    is make up a batch of the buttercream you actually need a triple batch of it and the
    recipe quantities are all on the blog howtocookthat.net there is a link in the description just below
    this video. Stir the butter and icing sugar together using
    a spoon until it is slightly combined and then use the electric mixers on low speed.
    If you just jump straight into high speed you are going to end up with a face full of
    icing sugar which is not what you want. Once they are reasonably combined and starting
    to look like a paste then you can turn your mixers on high speed and you want to mix it
    for about 4 minutes. Add about three or four tablespoons of milk until you get the desired
    consistency and it should start to look paler in colour and fluffy like this.
    Take out
    of the mixture and leave that to one side and with the remaining mixture
    add a small amount of colour and mix it well. You can use any colour you want if you want
    it in blue or pink or whatever you would like to do.
    Place a decent scoop of this into your first bowl then add more of the same colour again
    and mix again and repeat that process until you have
    of your colour. Place each of these into a ziplock bag and
    leave them to one side for the moment.
    Using the plain buttercream put a smear on your cake stand or plate, and then add your
    bottom layer of cake. Put a thin layer of buttercream between your layers and add the
    next layer of on top, more butter cream and the top layer of cake.
    I am using three here so you have a taller effect rather than just using the two and
    that will give us room to do our different colors on the cake.
    Smooth some more of your plain buttercream on the top of the cake you could use a colour
    here if you want to I just like the contrast of having the creamy colour on top. And then
    put a really thin coating around the sides of your cake also.
    Take each of you bags of frosting and fold the corner over on itself so it is doubled
    over and then just snip the corner off. Try and cut the same amount off each bag so it
    is easy to pipe the same size blobs. Push the frosting down towards the open corner
    and then twist the top of the bag so that the frosting can't push back up into the bag
    when you squeeze it. Starting with the lightest colour pipe blobs
    the whole way around the top of the cake. Then use a teaspoon and squash the bottom
    half of the blob and drag it downwards. So you are just pushing it in and dragging it
    downwards towards the bottom of the cake. ANd then repeat that the whole way around
    the cake. Take your next colour and place a blob not
    just underneath the smear but just covering any of it where it is starting to look uneven
    or not so good. So that you see the nice part of your piping. Put those blobs the whole
    way around your cake and then repeat what you did before just grab the spoon push it
    in and pull down. I found if you dip your spoon in hot water you get a smooth look to
    these blobs than if you just use a dry spoon. And so I dip the spoon in don't even dry it
    just put it straight on the icing and drag it down.
    You can use any icing that you like that will hold its shape fot this you don't have to
    use buttercream you could use italian meringue icing you could use cream cheese frosting
    if you've got a nice thick or your you could use white chocolate gnache whatever you prefer
    the taste of on your cake as long as it is firm enough to hold its own shape it will
    be perfect. Continue this way all around you cake in the
    different colours until you reach down to the bottom. Use a knife to scrape off any
    excess from the plate and get some paper towel and wipe your plate perfectly clean. Then
    take your final colour and pipe blobs around the base.

    welcome to take stop today I am gonna show you how to make a gorgeous rose
    that cake
    gonna be a zing some beautiful shades of pink working from a lighter pink
    and going in an armbar effect down into a mead think at the end

    - Hi, everyone. I'm Stephanie from Wilton.
    I'm so excited today to show you how to make a cake
    using our easy layers heart pan.
    The great thing about this pan
    is that you can take one cake mix
    and get five layers out of it.
    So there's a lot you can do with it.
    You can switch it up and make
    all the layers a different color,
    but today we're gonna make a beautiful
    cake for Valentine's Day.
    To get started we're gonna spray each pan
    with our Bake Easy here.
    Next I have one standard cake mix
    that I prepared according to the package directions.
    And I'm using chocolate right now.
    Feel free to use any other flavor that you like,
    but nothing says Valentine's Day to me like chocolate.
    So I'm just gonna divide it evenly among the pans.
    Now that the batter's in our pans
    we're gonna go ahead and bake these at
    degrees.
    It takes about
    to
    minutes.
    Now that our cakes are baked and cooled,
    I'm gonna go ahead and level them.
    So I'm gonna take my cake right here,
    and I have my serrated knife,
    and I'm just gonna level off the top.
    I'm gonna put the top in this bowl right here.
    It's really nice to use leftover cake
    to make cake balls and stuff like that.
    Now if you have any edges that kind of went
    over the side of the pan like this one right here,
    go ahead and take a knife and just trim that off.
    You want a really, nice flat side.
    Once your cakes are all leveled,
    we're gonna go ahead and stack and fill 'em.
    So I have a decorating bag here prepared
    with a tip
    and we're just gonna go ahead
    and we're gonna fill the cake.
    And what we're doing is we're not only giving it
    delicious flavor, but we're also giving it heighth.
    So I'm gonna take my next cake
    and just stack it on top of that.
    And don't worry too much about the edges.
    We're gonna fill those in later.
    Now that your cake is stacked and filled,
    we're gonna go ahead and take the remaining icing
    and pipe a line around all the cracks in-between the layers.
    To smooth out those edges we're gonna
    go ahead and take a spatula
    and just run it along the side of the cake.
    So this is all we're gonna do to the cake.
    We're not gonna ice it anymore.
    We're gonna leave it.
    Right now it's a trend called naked cake
    that's really popular.
    So the point of naked cakes is that you don't
    put anymore icing on the sides.
    You leave it exposed.
    It's a very rustic, makes the cake look really delicious,
    and don't worry about missing that icing
    because we got it all in the layers.
    Now that your cake is all smooth we're gonna
    set this off to the side and we're gonna make
    our glaze for the top of it.
    To make the glaze, it's really easy.
    I have right here 2
    cup powdered sugar.
    I'm gonna add in three tablespoons plus
    one teaspoon of milk,
    half a teaspoon of clear vanilla extract.
    Okay, then we're just gonna mix that all together.
    What we're gonna do is we're gonna drizzle this
    on top of our cake so you want it to be a nice
    thin consistency, almost like color flow,
    so if you find you need to add more milk,
    go ahead and do that.
    The glaze is done so I'm gonna go ahead
    and divide it out, 'cause we're gonna color it.
    So for my burgundy I'm gonna take
    my icing color right here,
    go ahead and stir it up with a toothpick,
    put a little bit of the color into that glaze.
    I'm gonna take my spatula right here
    and I'm gonna mix that color in.
    The next glaze, we're gonna do one shade of red.
    So I'm gonna make this the lighter shade.
    So I'm gonna take my red, red icing here
    and I'm just gonna add a touch of color.
    It's almost gonna look pink.
    For the next shade we're gonna make it a little deeper red,
    so I'm gonna add more red coloring than I did before.
    And don't forget you can always go back and add more color
    if it's not the right shade you want.
    Now that our glaze is colored,
    I'm gonna go ahead and put these in some decorating bag.
    No tip is needed.
    I'm gonna cut off the end of my bag right here
    and I'm gonna drizzle at the end
    and I wanna do it in lines.
    So there's no rhyme or reason to
    the shades of colors I'm picking.
    It's all very random.
    We just want it to look nice.
    Now we're gonna do lines of different colors,
    and we want the edge to kind of drizzle off.
    You see how it's doing there?
    And if I even want some more drizzle
    I can add a little bit more.
    And we're done.
    Now you have a beautiful cake to share
    with your sweetheart, your friends, or just eat it yourself.
