Chocolate Butterfly Decorations Tutorial HOW TO COOK THAT Ann Reardon - YouTube !!! English English Add subtitles/CC
Welcome to How To Cook That I am Ann Reardon and today I am going to show
you how to make beautiful dainty chocolate butterflies.
I just love these and for this I suggest that you use fake chocolate not real chocolate.
Your fake chocolate contains vegetable oil instead of cocoa butter so it has a higher
melting point and so that it is going to make your chocolate more fluid when it's melted
so you can get this really dainty thin effect and it is also going to help them to stay
set for longer so that you can use them without them melting.
I will show you how to make the lacey ones first and the colourful ones second. So starting
with the lacey ones, take piece of baking paper and fold it in half, making a crease
down the centre. Open it up flat again, then take a ziplock bag filled with some melted
chocolate and working quickly draw the outline of the two wings and then scribble in the
middle. Fold it in half gently press on the design and immediately open it up again. Pipe
on a body and antennas, and then prop up with either a couple of bowls or you can prop it
up against a wall so that the wings can set in that position. It can look nice if you
give the top wing a double outline. Have a look at some pictures of real butterflies
to give you a bit of an idea of the wing shape, it doesn't have to be exact because the advantage
of doing it this way is whatever you do when you fold that in half it is going to be duplicated
and symmetrical on the other side. Then you can pop those little dainty butterflies onto
some cupcakes and all of a sudden they look great.
To make your beautiful colourful butterflies, that's a bit of a tongue twister, take
of melted candy melts or fake white chocolate and mix in some oil based food coloring, you
can buy that from cake decorating stores. I am using blue, red and yellow, then I mixed
some of the yellow into the red to make it more of an orange hue and then some of the
blue into the yellow to give a more natural yellow rather than that bright fake colour.
I am also using some of the dark chocolate for contrast.
For this first butterfly pipe an outline on the top wing in dark, and then scribble to
fill with the yellow chocolate, Then pipe an outline for the bottom wing in the yellow
and scribble it to fill with dark chocolate. Fold in half, gently press it, then open it
up straight away and pipe on your body and your antennas. Prop it up against the wall
to set. Now when you are piping try to get the top wing bigger than the bottom wing because
that's what the butterflies look like.
For the next one, fold your paper in half and then pipe the outline of your wings, double
outline the top one and draw a line of dark in the middle of each wing. Take your orange
and scribble that in the top wing and half of the bottom wing then scribble fill yellow
in the bottom wing, quickly fold it in half, gently press it and open it out. Add your
body and your antennas and prop against the wall.
When you are scribble filling it you don't need to fill it all in because when you are
gently pressing on it it spreads out and fills in the gaps.
And there are no rules as to what colors you pipe where basically have fun with it and
as long as your top wing is bigger than your bottom wing it will look right and they'll
    look pretty.
They look beautiful on cakes and cupcakes, but why not use them at a kids party for a
treasure hunt in the garden. I can just imagine them at a little girls fairy party or a boys
bug hunt or something like that. My boys certainly enjoyed finding them on the tree and eating
them all. Thank you for watching and I will see you
all next week we've got cake next week so put your requests in the comments below the
week after that is dessert and then we'll be back to chocolate again. Have a great week

    you
    three
mmm hello everyone in this video I'm gonna show you how to make these
    butterfly cupcakes
these would be perfect for mothers day to make these cupcakes you need some
    candy melts
or regular chocolate now these can email to multiple candy wafers
I'll put all the information you could ever want to know about them in the
Description box if you're wondering where to buy them and how to melt them
    and so on
now I also printed out a butterfly wing template
what I did was a Google image search for butterfly wing template and I found
these I will put a link in the description box
to these if you're interested in those particular ones for the slots different
    shapes and sizes
I printed out to the right size that I placed a sheet of waxed paper over top
that you could also use parchment paper I melted my
candy melts right Ian that pastry bake at
in the microwave at fifty percent power and i cud a tiny hole in the end the
    pastry bag
you could also use a black bag that had the corner Kyle as well
and then outline the wings in the candy melts or the chocolate
and want to tell line you can fill them in the way
you want you don't have to follow the design that's on the template you can
    make up your own
and you will see I do a variety of different kinds I'll
    textures and designs and patterns
in the butterfly wings as I go along so once you do one butterfly just move the
    wax paper and then continues
you can see how I did different shapes in that third one I did kinda little
little swirls in little circles with these on a cookie sheet on a large plate
and put the in the refrigerator until her hard completely
and one so hard completely detach quite nicely just be very careful cuz they are
    delicate
and you'll notice that arm you have to text
two sides one will be like a textured siding in their own will be quite flat
you can decide which side do you think is prettier
now actually use both love both sides one I
did these cupcakes you will see the difference now hold your wax paper
in half just enough so that you get a line that you can see
on the wax paper and then line up your butterfly wings
on either side that line once that's done
you can pipe in work and emails
for the butterfly body and how you do this is up to you you may have to make
    it thick enough
so that the body actually makes contact with the butterfly wings because that
    was gonna hold everything together
she can draw their body the head and the in
    I
then I took a piece of cardstock paper that
also been folded in half so it has decreased on the middle
and then I line up decreases from the wax paper to
the cardstock and the bodies are the butterfly will be along that crease
in the weeks will tilt up on either side
this way you have your wings added really nice
angle they put these in the refrigerator or the freezer
and prop them up by putting something on either side
love that car stock to keep it in that v-shaped net for the position
now these are the ones I did in chocolate just to show you at once again
I'll with the technique is the one at the top
I didn't flip the wings over in the ones in the bottom I did so that's up to you
how you want to do this
same technique folded waxed paper and then the cardstock
in a new chill touch the cardboard or the cardstock
you may have to rearrange the Rings to get at the right angle
and then refrigerate completely now and a little detail I wanted to make for
these because I didn't make them for mothers day
was to make a little mama pic to put in a cupcake
so I just drew thats I that mom
with a pan on a piece of paper and then scan outline it using some chocolate
so did the heart in chocolate and then fill in the center of the heart
and then I'm going to draw the to M's the same way making sure
at the top of the embers in contact with the hearts what has something to

and then I let it harden completely and then
I drew on a little pink heart over talk
let your creation hard in the in the refrigerator
now the frosting im using the frostys cupcakes is a Swiss buttercream meringue
    frosting
which is really easy to make it's basically a quite
and sugar over simmering water you he didn't ill the sugar is dissolved in a
    reaches

and forty degrees fahrenheit take it off the stove beaded until the equator cool
    related fluffy
and then add some butter continue to be in you get your sis bring buttercream
    now to
this the color that I wanted them using a brand new color
these are America color paste from colors
that my parents actually bought me while they were in Florida this year because
you can't buy this where I live here in this part of Canada
and so put a couple drops in it said it's a page full color
what's a little bit more liquid than the Wilton kind
and this is the first time actually use this particular color
and just a couple drops give you a really nice shade of pink so
I'll I really like that pic Allah to know how the other clothes workout as I
    use them
now the page to make some using a disposable a box about these on
e-bay they were really good price their little bit flimsy but they are perfect
    for
this are really soft kind meringue frost
like at the end of the bank and then inserting at the large
tip that is a1 am a tip you don't need a coupler
in a ring if you are using the large tips like that
settle the frosting twist at the end and you're ready to go
and then you frost the cupcakes I use kinda the circular swirling motion
from the outside in it makes a very delicate roughly kinda for frosting that
looks a little like a flower
the cupcakes themselves are up to you I'm just using
plain vanilla cupcakes that I made from a box mix
what I do they make a whole bunch of them I put them in the freezer
and then I take all just a few at a time when I'm making cupcake decorating
    videos
but use your favorite cupcake recipe for the base
now once they roll frosted you can start to add your decorations
I recommend that you keep all your decorations refrigerated until you're
    ready to use them
and when you do insert these little mama pics dude
gently because they are very delicate
same thing goes with the butterflies keep them refrigerated until you're
    ready to use them
because if your kitchen is very warm dis the key from your hands mister to melt
    them as you're touching them
to place them on the cupcake engine gently press them into the frosting
and you're done I really like the way these look all grouped together like
this with the same color frosting but different color butterfly
but this part is up to you can change up the frosting and changed the color the
    butterflies
to your liking and maybe you can pick maybe your mom's favorite colors as well
now because it's a swiss meringue buttercream you are dealing with egg
    whites
when I suggest you do use if you make these ahead a time I would put them in
    the refrigerator
until you're ready to serve them and then I would take them out about an hour
    beforehand
just let that frosting soften up a little bit give it a try
now I have another butterfly cupcake that have already done its monarch
    butterfly the butterfly
isn't quite as delicate as we speak as these ones
but its equally pretty and not that hard to do so click on your screen article to
    leak in the Description box
if you're interested in my swiss meringue buttercream recipe click on
