    in the backyard
and as you can see we've got everything we need to spring into action
including this fantastic Fire Engine cake our friendly
Hansen at the Betty Crocker Kitchens is back at the firehouse I'm in the kitchen
so let's get started Haley Peters alre
I love we're doing a fire engine cake are america's brain is so cool
our fire engine gonna be bright red great okay to start
big chocolate cake and eight by 4 inch pan okay and I start by cutting off the
domes leveling off a little bit
using a serrated knife just cutting across
an hour to take the first piece here that we cut
now I am here and the next one
gonna cut just a little piece of
gonna lay it down here just to lay it out
a little bit have and frosting on to connect it later okay
man's last one gonna cut rate in half can act like that
now be the front-runner by now there you see it already coming to head that way
so now I can take a little bit of frosting just to connect the pieces
    witnessed my right on their
that is some seriously red frosting will do the same here
that a simple food coloring in
to get a really vibrant color you can use a gel food coloring
and also the cake moves a little but you can always put a little bit
underneath so this ones ready to be crumb coated
likely already have one ready to go so this
interpreter for about an hour yet metal from up the frostings their final Colby
    nice and clean
gonna go ahead and start to frosted wanna put a nice size dollop on top here
and up here to take a lot of
first a lot but we're gonna spread it all out and will even take the excess of
    after least not at all
and now it when you do the top here you what you want the
frosting to come over the edge is a little bit gotta help you frost the
    sides
not coming here yes and no frosting the sides again
just to get them some a little bit of frosting will hopefully go
up over the edge informal lip which will make it easier to smooth out the top
him come in like an airplane landing
    scrape take up them
despite now are a welcome thing as last step
need to take some of that white frosting is going to the ball and had a little
dropper Blackford Chizik make some grape
    okay allied
I'm just gonna nervous and a little bit
take them to fill a pastry bag
cap on this for think that's a good idea
caps on you think a okay I'm using a disposable pastry bag
you can years increased recall you can use
freezer bag that's right i mean have it'll work for this
moms gonna up a whole the cut my bottom this I'm gonna cut and medium sized hole
    which is probably became
eighth dimension porn inch diameter from so this is
you know about quarter when Jimmy a little bit smarter first I was gonna
    fill and missile
    area year a little gray
get a little separation metallic separation here
here gonna come back with my spatula
    again miss this one just
man out a little then before you do any more paving
unpronounceable cookie wheels okay Israel chocolates and cookies
    putting here
you know the two on the other side so now
my pipe little hubcaps this basically just little dots
Center you just wanna miss any good details now SNL into a bottoms gonna
    Paul down crust
and follow that bottom edge and then
up around wheeling do that on both sides
them get the from front bumper
this week actually did a little bit thicker
    two streams just
that out so now and do a couple more pipe accents
and I have already filled up another pastry bag with white
to run into a window in the front and then a
I the outlined out the window then fill it in
    gray and again
    come back and
    well
    due to side with notes
sahnoun a pipe the latter on top
squeeze a line across and then another one parallel to it
    you gonna do mines across
I think what else there is a higher we have hoses plans
yeah licorice spirals there with about one on each side
came right here that now Natalie
so now I put some little wat dots here and that's gonna show us remember
    flashing lights enable alternate
reading a lot there me to read their yeah camp
okay me put them on them gonna put
    dots at the back headlights
her facts while our done that looks fantastic
it looks like it's ready to rate top and put out a fire somewhere that's perfect
thank you so much fun to make
anyone to make this cake is gonna be a big hero to their cues thanks eventually

Welcome to How To Cook That I am Ann Reardon, today I am going to show you how to
make a dump truck cake. I made this particular one for my little boy
when he turned two on the weekend and we had a party to celebrate.
Now if you go to the blog howtocookthat.net you can download the
template that i've made for you.
You can make the fondant details a month ahead but the minimum you are going to
have to do it is about three days ahead. Because the fondant needs time to dry out
on these details so that they will hold their shape. Put you black fondant on some non-stick
baking paper. If your fondant is sticking to the rolling pin like this one just
spray it with some cooking oil and run that around your roller
and then it should roll out smoothly for you.
you want to roll it to about

Then using the templates that I have given you as a guide.
Then cut out the front of the truck.
Then cut out the rectangle and strips and lay them over the top.
as shown and then put a strip on either side.
We then want to cut out the two little rectangles, one in each corner.
use the back of a skewer
to poke some little holes for details and then the corner of your ruler
on the bottom of each corner just to make a little indent.
and then I've use the back of a spoon, anything that has a rectangle shape.
Just poke a couple of little rectangle holes in it.
Optionally if you want to you can use use your skewer to make little dots and write the
name of the birthday boy on the front of the truck.
Cut out the side pieces for your truck.
Now there is a couple of pieces that need to be folded
and set on a right angle so just fold those
and put them up against a wall to dry so that they can dry in the
    correct position.
Then repeat those pieces for the other side of the truck so you need two of each of those.
To make your screws take a small amount of black fondant, roll it into a ball
and then squash that to form a circle in the size shown. If it is too big just
start again making a smaller ball of fondant.
    and roll it out.
Then roll out some more fondant
cut a circle using the back of a straw
    and put that on top.
Then take some silver luster dust and a dry paintbrush and just brush it over

to give you your silver screws. They're going to go in the centre of your wheels.
When you are cutting out all of these pieces you want to leave them on the non-stick baking paper
If you try and lift them up and move them you are going to put them out
    of shape.
So leave them where they are.
So that you can store them I like to cut around them
and then transfer them to a baking tray so I can put them on top of the
fridge out of the way and they can dry out there.
To make the funnel to go on top of the truck
roll out a snake shape and place it over the template
    trim it to size
Poke a piece of spaghetti into the base end of that so it will help it stand up on the
    truck
    to make the barrel
roll a cylinder in the size shown
and then I just put a little circle on top of that in the middle.
    For your cabin
We want to cut strips of fondant
and again if you get the template under the non-stick baking paper and you can
    use that as a guide
to make you window frames just using the strips, put them into place
    and stick it together
Next for the yellow fondant. Make sure you wash your hands and your rolling pin well so you
don't get any black on it
If you are nor familiar with using fondant or colouring fondant
go to the fondant basics video. If you click on CAKE DECORATING TUTORIALS
in the description below this video
then you'll find the fondant basics one there.
And it shows you how to colour fondant.
I've actually addicts some banana essence to this one too
to give it a bit of flavour.
take the inside wheel rectangle template
and roll it around a piece of paper so that the edges of the rectangle meet.
    and then sticky tape
    that into place.
Cover that roll of paper with some banking paper and sticky tape that
    into place as well.
Roll out your yellow the fondant
And cut out strips in the width of that rectangle.
straighten the edges using a ruler and trim one end straight.
    Roll that carefully around
the cylinder that you've just made out of paper.
and once it gets to the meeting let it overlap just a little bit
and then trim off the edges neatly.
You want to stand that upright
dry. To make the top of your truck cut out the rectangle out of the yellow fondant
and mark where you want the circle and the lines to be by gently pushing down
with an object on top of your template
    Then remove your template
Cut strips, place them in place and use a ruler to straighten them up.
Use the end of a straw to cut out a circle.
and enlarge the circle to the right size by moving the straw around in a circlular motion.

    To make the
back of our dump truck you need to find a box in your cupboard
that is about the size of the template that I have given you.
This weetbix box that I have got here is about right
What we want to do is trim up the box so that the edges
curve around just like they do on the actual truck
So we are going to just
cut it, trim them up and then sticky tape into place.
Now I found under the weight of the fondant this box wasn't quite strong enough. It started to warp a little bit.
It was OK but if you are going to use a weet-bix box I suggest you stuff it with something in
the middle just to give it a bit more strength
Now the box for your truck needs to be about
So this one is a little bit short so what I am going to do is place it on a book.
to rise it up to the right height.
Cover your box with non-stick baking paper.
and your tray as well. Roll out the yellow fondant and cover the box.
You might find it easier to transfer it on the baking paper rather than taking it off.
On the short end of the truck place it around and just gently fold the corner into place
    Leave about a
your fondant to make it neat
at the corner then of your long side
leave it going right down to the paper
Up next to the end that you have just done and then trim it up and across in a
    straight line as shown
all the way to the other end
    granted effort the krona
the impact of that canada an across damning of the sides
and make the alongside match what you've just done on the fast start
    using a pizza cutter
    make two cuts
at the end as shown and then using your ruler
fold that up over the ruler so that it bends
down if the truck was the right way up.
roll pout some more yellow fondant in the width of your truck
put a little bit of water on your finger and run that over the fondant that is already
    there
and place the rectangle of fondant over the truck
pushing into place as you go here I am just using a ruler to flatten it out.
    Leave a
fold up just a little bit at the end
    so that it's sticking up.
Cut two extra pieces of yellow fondant to place along the sides
    to give it that
    look.
Next cut a strip of fondant
    and put it along
    the
corner edge of your truck to just where it's bending down.
Place a thicker strip along the top edge of the truck and going around
    the back
I'm using a needle medicine dispenser here
just placing a few little circle holes so they look like
rivet holes on the truck, using some more fondant
put a few stripes going down the edge.
after a couple of days the yellow circle should be dry enough to work with
    take them off the cylinder
then place them on some grey fondant and cut around that
Roll a snake out of the grey fondant, trim it down
and place it into the middle of the circle
and then roll another snake, trim it down and then cut it in half and put it like a
criss cross in the center of the circle
take one of the screws that you've already made before and put it in the middle
and then push it down gently
It's these sort of details on the cakes that make them look good.
Now that all the details are done.
    Let's make the actual cake.
take your template for the bottom layer of cake
and put it in a cake tin. I've got a rectangular cake tin here that can be
resized to any shape I have had it for ages and it's really useful.
I'll see if I can find anyone who currently sells them, if so I will put a link in
the description below the video. If you don't have one of those you can just use
a cardboard box. Make sure you use a box that
    isn't
coated in a shiny picture because they have a plastic coating on it so it needs to be just a
    plain
box and then make a frame. Doesn't need a base, just the frame tied into place.
You want it to be just slightly bigger
Than your cake template this allows you room to trim off the edges of your cake
and just be left with that nice moist centre piece of chocolate cake
and then line it with baking paper just like I have done with the frame here.
so that the cake mixture can't leak out into the oven
I'm using the same chocolate cake recipe that I always use becsaue it is really
    chocolatey and delicious.
if you need the video for that recipe it is already on this channel
when this video finishes if you click on see more videos by How To Cook That
you'll find the chocolate cake recipe there.
Bake it until a knife inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Because it is a large cake I put this one in the centre of the oven and put an empty
    baking tray on
a shelf above it. Just to shield the top of it from heat so that the top didn't
burn before the centre was cooked.
    Take your cake board template
and cut it out of some really thick cardboard, then I have wrapped it in alfoil so that the
cardboard is not going to absorb the
oil from the cake or the moisture from the cake and go soft.
Stick that into place on the back.
We need the truck to sit off the cake board
So to achieve this I have cut more squares out of the thick cardboard
    and stick them together
Then I am attaching that to the bottom of your cake board and sticking it into
    place
Your chocolate ganache will be firm when it has just come out of the fridge so whip it up using an
    electric mixer
this adds some air but it also softens it
The ganache recipe is on that chocolate cake
video that I referred to already.
Cut your first layer of cake. Use a cake leveler if you have one. If
    you don't have one
just put something that's the right
    thickness for the layer
and put it just under your knife to guide your knife as you cut so that you get the same
    level the whole way through.
put your template on top of the cake and cut it out
put a smear of ganache on the alfoil
and put that first layer of cake into place
cover the top of it in another layer of ganache
and then cut out your next layer of cake using the same method that we used
    before.
Put the template on it but right over to one side.
Cut that out and put it into place on top of the piece that you have already done.
Put some ganache over the top of that
for the top of the cabin
Use the piece of the cake that you have already cut some out of
and cut that in two. put it together and piece it together to make
the rectangle that you need for the top of the cabin
    Put that lengthwise across
    the front of the truck
and then put ganache on top of that.
Next we want to cover all the sides and the front and the back
of the cake in your ganache
I'm using a palette knife to smooth it off. It doesn't have to be perfect because
remember your fondant pieces are already set firm
Check the height of the front of the cake by holding up the fondant front of the cake to it.
if it's not quite tall enough just add a bit more ganache on top.
Then put the front of the cake in place
Now because your ganache is warm and we have just whipped it
it's not going to hold in place straight away it will start to slide so you need to put
something under its to support it while it's setting and once it firms up in the
fridge it will hold there no worries.
if you are serving this cake outside or somewhere very warm
then you might want to poke some spaghetti through the front
into the actual cake just to give it that bit of extra support
put the top of the truck on followed by the sides and the back of the front
    section of the truck
Take the rectangle sides and pushed them into the cake on each side to make that bit that
    sits above the wheels
    To make the windows
put some isomalt into a saucepan and heat it on high heat until it melts
and then tip it into each of the window slots.
if you don't have isomalt you can use normal sugar
If you haven't worked with sugar before in that way
Then there is a video how to make sugar decorations for desserts
Once your windows have set and cooled and they are hard
use your left over isomalt just reheat it
and it's the sides of your cabin pieces into it.
and use it like glue to stick it together into place
Take your final layer of cake. Level the top of the cake
and then using your wheel templates cut out four circles of cake
    and then
    cut around the centre sections
cut a hole out of each piece of your cake. Place some ganache on the top of the circle
Roll out a thin layer of black fondant using the circle template again
just cut around, leave about a
slightly bigger than the circle in your black fondant. Place that over the wheel
Flip it over and repeat that on the other side
Then take a knife and cut a small cross in the centre section right where the
    hole is in the wheel
and take the yellow wheel centre that you have already made, put it right in the
middle and then gently push it down into place.
    Take some more black fondant
roll out a long strip and cut it to a thickness that is slightly thinner than the
    width of your wheels
using your finger put some water on the top of the fondant, not a lot just a little bit
Then roll up your wheel so that it joins at the other side.
    Trim it off.
Then I am using a chop stick, anything that you've got in your draw that has a square
    shape to it
    just make indents around the
    edge of your wheel
    on the top side
and then again on the base of your wheel just push it to line up
with the indents that you have just made for the tread of your tyre.
Roll out some more black fondant
    and cut one edge straight
and put that edge up against the front of the truck
and smooth it over the back part of the truck body.
trim it up using a knife and then use a knife or a ruler to push it into the corners
and smooth it around the bumps that stick out.
Then use your chopstick to make some indents on those side sections
make some more indents on the back of the truck.
take your side pieces and push them into the sides of your cake
so that they sit as shown.
These are going to sit just above your wheel.
roll out a little rectangle of black and place it over the box of ganache
    that you can see there
Then take one of your tires
and you might have to push it down a little bit and push it into
    place
using some ganache secure your back wheels into place
    and take your funnel
and poke it through the hole in the top of yellow fondant
To make the dirt you are going to need two packets of oreos
    Place them in the blender
the middles need to stay in. don't take them out just put the whole biscuit in the blender
and blend them up. To make the rocks that go in the back of the truck
use some of your chunks of left over cake
just use your fingers to break bits off them to make them look a bit more rock shaped
rather than slices of off cut cake
dip them in some warmed ganache and then just put it in the fridge to set.
Add some ganache to the back of the truck
and then put your tray carefully into place.
Add in your rocks and some dirt, put some more rocks on top, little sprinkle of dirt
on there. If you want you can add some rock candy jewels
and some geodes. I will do a video on how to do rock candy with large crystals at a
    later date for you.
use a small amount of ganache to put the little barrel in place in the middle
and the cabin with your windows
in place on the front of the truck.
Finally put a thin layer of ganache over your whole cake board and sprinkle it with your
    oreo dirt
Put a couple of rocks on the cake board as well
    and some chocolate popping sugar
traffic cones. Don't forget to add some tracks behind your truck
and a little bit of dirt on your back wheels
and you're ready for your birthday party

Welcome to How To Cook That I am Ann Reardon
This week my baby boy turned three, his favourite thing at the moment is firetrucks. If I was
your mum and you could have any cake you liked what would you choose? firetrucks, firetruck
cake, Let me know in the comments.
To make the firetruck cake you need to print out the template which you can get from the
shop on howtocookthat.net, I'll put a link in the description below the video.
Now firstly you need to make the cakes. If you regularly watch How To Cook That then
you'll know I usually bake the cakes in flat trays and then stack them up, your other option
is to bake in a large tin or box like I'm doing here and then cut it into layers. The
advantage of doing it this way is you get neat and perfect layers. The disadvantage
is that for a cake this big to bake it takes a long time and it also tends to get overcooked
on the edges and the top and the bottom. That means you have to cut all that off and throw
it away. So you can choose which way you'd rather bake it.
Use the template for the top view and cut rectangles of cake. If you used the one big
tin method to bake it like i did then cut off any overcooked parts. Use a cake leveler
or knife to cut it into layers.
Stack them up to make the level of the back of the truck. Then fold your top template
on the line and cut another layer of cake to the right length for that top shorter section.
Then make your frosting of your choice, if you go to the Frostings taste test video you'll
see recipes there for 7 different frostings recipes. Today I am using the French buttercream
    one.
Use your template for the top of the cake and cut a sturdy piece of cardboard in that
shape. Then cover it in foil and tape it into place.
Cut some extra rectangles of cardboard and stack them to the height of under truck so
they can support the cake. Tape those together and then stick them firmly into place on your
cake board. Lining it up with where the wheels of the cake will go so that they will hide
those supports. Add some tape and place your cake board on top of that.
Put a thin layer of buttercream onto the cake board, then add your first layer of cake,
then add more frosting, and another layer of cake. If you are not using the cake the
same day then add some simple syrup to each cake layer because that helps to keep the
cake really moist. And simple syrup is made by heating equal quantities of sugar and water
in the saucepan until the sugar is dissolved and then let that cool down and then just
use a pastry brush to dab some of it onto your cake. Continue to stack your cakes and
your frosting until you get to the height of the back of the truck and then add your
    smaller piece to the front.
Now what you need to do it put the side template over your cake and follow the template to
shape the cake at the top and the front. If you don't trust yourself to keep the knife
straight in a straight line you can print two templates and put on on each side of the
cake so you can line the knife up with both of them.
Now you need to cover the entire cake in a layer of frosting and smooth it as much as
you can and then put that in the fridge for an hour to firm up.
While it is chilling we are going to make some fondant details.
Firstly to make the ladder roll out some white fondant fairly thickly and cut a straight
line using a pizza cutter down one side. Now I've made my own rectangle cookie cutter here
and I show you how to make your own cookie cutter on the twitter dessert video. If you
don't want to make a cutter you could cut these holes out by hand it will just take
longer and they wont be quite as even. Once you've cut them then use a ruler and
a pizza cutter to cut down the other side to make it match. And then leave that out
    to one side to dry.
Cut the side panels from the template and roll out some light grey fondant. Using your
template as a guide cut around each one. If you go to the firetruck cake post on the website
it will detail there how much you need of each colour fondant and it will link you to
the frosting recipes and the cake recipes and everything else that you need.
Then use a ruler to indent lines all the way up each one so they look like a roller door.
Take some more fondant and roll a thin snake and using a little bit of water attach it
to the lower edge of the roller door. Then roll a tiny ball of fondant and add one to
each end of the handle. Then repeat that so that you have panels for both sides of your
firetruck so you should have 6 altogether. Now we are going to make the small square
panels, you can cut it out of the template or just guess and make a couple of squares.
Next to make the horns for the top of the cake. Take a ball of light grey and place
it on the bench top and gently roll it between your little fingers applying more pressure
in the middle to make it narrower there. By keeping it on the bench top it helps keep
the base of the horn flat. Make two of those then leave then upright to dry. roll out some
more grey and cut two circles using a drinking straw, we will add these to the horns when
we add it to the cake.
Moving on to the dark grey fondant we want to make the small square and then the rounded
rectangle. To do that cut a rectangle and then just trim a small amount off each corner.
Then make the door handle cut a thin rectangle, then put an indent across it on one side.
    And a couple more lengthwise.
Now for the side mirrors roll a ball and cut it in half, place it flat on the paper and
smooth out the shape then turn it on one side the way that it will sit on the cake and flatten
it to one side. Repeat those so you have two sets, one for
each side of the cake. Then cut some thin strips for the windscreen wipers, bend them
to the right shape, cut them to the right length and leave them there to dry out.
If you will be short on time when you are making the cake then you can make all of these
fondant details up to a month before hand, leave them flat on baking paper on a tray
somewhere that they won't get bumped. And once they have dried out you can put them
in an airtight container. For the small bit at the front roll a little
snake and then cut it in half.
Now to make the hose attachments at the back of the cake cut three circles out of dark
grey using a straw. Then using a small round piping tip indent on each one with little
    circle.
Now cut two small rectangles the size shown for the back corner of the cake. Now cut another
rectangle in the size of the panels on the back of the cake.
Take the cake out of the fridge and roll out some red fondant and work quickly lift it
over the cake and then lift and smooth the fondant on each side. At the corners of the
firetruck you can either lift and smooth your fondant around the corner. Or for an easier
option you can bring the fondant out at the corner and squeeze it together to form a join
and cut off the excess with scissors. Take a ball of fondant and gently rub it over
the cake to smooth out any lumps and bumps. Using a knife trim off the excess fondant
from along the base of your cake. Roll out some white fondant and cut out the
front windscreen and put that into place. Cut a white strip for along the front, using
a small amount of water attach it to the cake and then use a ruler to straighten it up once
it's one the cake. Cut some light grey head lights and stick
those on top. Cut a strip of white fondant and then cut
some thinner strips of red, and lay the red across the white to make stripes. Trim off
the excess red. Cut another rectangle of red in the size shown
for the front of the cake and then make some indents down the front. Add that to the front
of the cake and add your stripy piece just below it on top of the white strip there.
Just above the stripes add your two dark grey bits that you made earlier. Add the windscreen
wipers, using a little bit of water to stick them on.
Next cut a thin strip of yellow and place it across the front of the cake, trim it to
the right length and then use a knife or a ruler again to straighten it up.
Roll out some blue and using your straw to cut out circles and place them on for the
    head lights.
Take some more blue and roll two cylinders applying more pressure at one end to make
them thinner at the top. Place them on top of the cake. Roll a thin snake of red and
wrap that around the base of each light.
Now to make our door, cut the shape out of red then flip the template over and cut another
one. Cut out the window shape out and cut it out
of white fondant and place it on the door. You can then add the door handles and the
side mirrors that we made. Cut a circle out of blue, I am using a piping
tip to do this and add it to the door. Then roll a tiny ball of yellow and place it on
the door. Using the tip of your knife indent and drag
it out to make it look more like a diamond or star shape.
Add the horns to the top of the cake and add the little circles that we made just behind
    them.
Carefully place the door onto the side of the firetruck. Then using a little water to
make it stick add the side panels into place and grey squares into place. Add a yellow
circle into the centre of the dark grey square. Now on the back of the truck add the two dark
grey rectangles that we made. Then cut a rectangle from red and add the firehose attachments,
then place that on the back of the truck. Roll out some thin yellow snakes and cut them
to the size shown on the template. Roll out some blue and cut out the shield shape and
place the sheild over the yellow. Take a small ball of yellow, place it in the middle and
indent it just like we did for the side doors. Add the shield to the side of the cake And
then make another one for the other side. Then add your two grey rectangles to the back
off the cake and add two yellow snakes to one and a grey snake on the other.
Just like we did for the front of the cake roll out a strip of yellow fondant and criss
cross that with red. Then trim off the excess red and wrap it around the back of the truck,
then use your knife to make it straight. To make the wheels roll out a strip of black
fondant and use a fork to indent it all the way along. Flip it over then take a mini oreo
and roll it up. Trim it off when you get all the way around and gently press the fondant
around the edges of the oreo. Using a piping tip cut a circle of red and place that into
the centre of each wheel. Next roll out some white and cut circles, then cut semi circles
from the edges and place them onto the red of the wheels. Repeat that so that you have
6 wheels. Add those to the side of the truck. If you want toto before you add the wheels
you can put some black fondant on the cake platter to make it look like a road like I've
done here. Cut a thin strip of dark grey and place it over the wheels bending it down at
    the front and the back.
To make the fire hose you can roll a snake by hand but if you want it really smooth and
even a fondant extruder makes the job quicker and easier, place the fondant in the tube
and twist the end. To make the end of our firehose roll out a cylinder and make it thiner
at one end then using a knife make indents around it and trim it to the right length.
Using a dry paintbrush brush it with gold luster dust.
Now I've added a couple of dark grey strips to the top of the cake and to the sides of
the road, you can do that too if you want to. Then coloured the leftover frosting green
and smeared it over the cake platter for grass. To give the grass like look of not looking
like smeared frosting but looking more like grass just get a fork and put that through
the frosting pulling it up until you are happy with it. Add the hose attaching it to the
back of the firetruck. Then add the gold nozzle to the end. Roll some teardrop shapes in blue
and add them to the end of the hose. Get your fireman to check the cake is OK. Then you
can store it in the fridge until you need it. Just before serving to the table you can
add the ladder and if you want you can add a fireman Sam toy to the front as well.
    Then it's Party time...

Have a great week and I'll see you on Friday
[music: Gypsy Dance YouTube audio library] *** *** IPAD CAKE Best Apps HOW TO COOK THAT Ann Reardon - YouTube !!! English Dutch English Hebrew Italian Add subtitles/CC
Welcome to How To Cook That I am Ann Reardon today we are making all your favorite apps
on a much requested iPad cake. I will show you two different ways to make
the iPad so let me know in the comments which one you prefer which one looks better.
Firstly though we are going to make our apple box and to make that you'll need one and a
half quantities of the rich chocolate cake recipe and bake that in two trays. The recipe
videos and everything that you'll need to make the iPad cake are all on this weeks blog
post and I'll link to that in the description below the video.
Once your cakes have cooled level them out and then cut them in half. Then place a small
amount of frosting onto the cake board, followed by the first layer of cake. Cover that in
frosting then add two more layers of cake. So you'll have one layer spare.
Now trim the edges to make that as straight and box like as you can get it.
Then cover the whole thing in a thin layer of frosting. This coat catches all the crumbs.
I am using mixture of the American buttercream and white chocolate ganache here and again
those recipes are all on the website.
Place that in the fridge and once the frosting has firmed up then we want to cover it in
another layer of frosting, take your time when you're putting this one on. Get the edges
as straight as you can, get the corners as crisp as you can.
When you put the fondant over the top it will reflect what you've done underneath.
Then place it back in the fridge to firm up. Now take some water on a pastry brush and
brush the cake, this just makes it a little bit damp so the fondant will stick to it.
Roll out your white fondant and then lift it up and drape it over the cake.
Pinch it in at the corners together and use scissors to trim off the excess and then rub
it with your finger. Now to get those tight edges you will need
to use a fondant smoother to smooth it out and also massage it towards the edges.
You can make the front of the ipad screen out of a printed icing sheet or out of fondant.
The printed icing sheets can be purchased online, they don't taste great even though
they say they are made out of icing they are not sweet. But they are good for apps that
have detailed logos. To make the fondant ones firstly we need to
make an app cutter. To do that decide how big your apps are going to be it is going
to be then take some aluminum flashing and fold it around something round like a pen
to make that rounded corner shape that all apps have. Repeat that with the next corner
each time lining it up with the distance you want the sides to be so they are all about
the same. Once you get back to the beginning trim the first side to about half the distance
and fold up the last side to overlap it. Trim it off and use some tape to hold it into place.
Now for your favorite apps you guys had so many requests we couldn't do all of them but
here is some of them starting at the bottom we have
DUMB WAYS TO DIE. To make this one roll out some background
colour. For all of your backgrounds use two skewers either side of your fondant and then
when your rolling it so that the rolling pin rests on them and you get a uniform thickness
for all of our buttons. Then cut it out using the cutter that we made. Then roll out a oval
of blue and squash it and using a little bit of water add it to the square. Trim off that
excess then take balls of orange really little ones and then roll them into tear drop shapes
and add them for fire hair. Dumb ways to die was a viral youtube video
made by Metro Trains in Australia promoting train safety. It was so popular that it has
its own game and various other things now as well and you can play the game and try
and survive all the different scenarios that are in the song.
Roll out a snake of white for the smile and then add two dots for the eyes using a food
    safe marker.
CUT THE ROPE is a good fun little game that I like as well I printed this one on the edible
icing sheet and you can get the image that I printed it all from on the the how to cook
that website as well. I will put it up there for you.
PANDORA To make the logo print it out and cut out
the P shape making sure you keep that white part in the centre of the P.
Pandora is a music app where you can listen to music using wifi and create your own stations.
And it's free if you don't mind lots of adverts. If you want no ads then you'll need to pay
every month. Place it on some white fondant and with the
middle of the P in place as well. And then brush it with some powdered blue food colour
    and a dry paint brush.
And then brush of any excess blue. Peel it off. And then place your cutter over the top
    and cut it out.
Next on the printed on we've got WE HEART IT
This one is similar to pinterest but in my opinion to as good. What do you think?
Spotify is next it is similar to pandora where you can listen to songs in playlists for free
on wifi & make your own playlists. It seems to have less ads than pandora does and I think
it's got a bit of an easier to use interface. Once you've rolled and cut out the black cut
out a green circle using a piping tip and place it on top. Roll out a snake of black,
curve it and place it on. And then repeat that using two smaller and thinner snakes.
The next printed one we've got is GEOMETRY DASH I'd never played this game before, you
jump over shapes, it is really hard, but kind of addictive.
Then we've got skype Roll out two ovals out of blue, flatten them
and place them across each other. Then use a snake of white to add the S.
And then put the whole thing onto a white square.
HAY DAY is a game where you run a farm it is one of the top grossing apps of course
    because it has inapp purchases.
Next we've got Retrica. Retrica lets you take photos with different
filters and different layouts so it's a bit of a fun photo app. Cut out a square of white
then add a strip of orange and put that on the top. Roll a ball of white and add it to
the top of that and then repeat that with a ball of black. Then add the four little
dots in the corner using your food grad marker.
Then we've got TEMPLE RUN this game has been around for quite a while now but you run and
you swipe to tun and swipe to jump and slide under things. It's quite a complicated logo
so it suits best the printed one.
Next we have POU In this game you have a little character who
you feed and you can play games with. If you feed him too much he'll get fat. If you have
push notifications on this one can get really annoying but if you turn them off it is a
pretty cut little game. Cut out your white square then roll a circle
of brown, squash it and pinch it to make it narrower at the top. Roll a tiny square of
white then cut it in half to get two even eyes and roll them into balls and add them
    on top.
Then using a food safe marker draw on the black dots on his eyes and his little mouth.
Next we've got SUBWAY SURFERS we've played this one for a while now you just dodge trains
and collect coins pretty much the opposite of the message of the dumb ways to die one.
Next we've got whatsapp With whats app you use your smart phone to
send text messages, photos, videos and you do it all over the internet instead of using
sms. Cut out a green square and roll out a snake
of white. Then make a mini oval and trim it at the join
to leave a slight tail. To make the phone cut a short piece of white
and bend over each end then add that to the middle.
CLASH OF CLANS is next its a multiplayer game by the makers of hayday, you build defenses
and train troops and attack other players communities, it does have wizards and witches
in the game play so if you that bothers you choose another game.
    Next we've got
this is a game where you keep adding things together so you add two
twos to make 4, two fours to make 8, then
and so on trying to get all the way
up to 2048 Cut the square out of the yellow and then
    paint on
    using white food colouring.
Next we have SURPRISE CAKES this is my app so thanks for requesting that one. This allows
you to use gaming technology to bring your cake to life. We are currently working on
the next update for it which will have a whole new animation which a secret I can't tell
you what it is yet but be on the look out for that.
Next we have pinterest which allows you of course to pin things you find online to different
boards so you can easily find them again. On the ipad or iphone though it can get a
bit tricky because you don't have the 'pin it' button. But if you browse within the pinterest
app you can easily pin stuff from there. Cut out a square of white and then a circle of
red. Roll out a long snake of white and start out making a semicircle on the top half then
bring it in and up to the top then back down and trim it off at the edge of that circle.
Then use a skewer to help make any little adjustments to the shape to make it look right.
Lots of requests for a bible app, You Version one is one of the most popular ones and It
is one of the most functional it's got all different things that you can do in there.
Then CANDY CRUSH this is an old one now, if you like candy crush then you can check out
the candy crush cake that is on the channel.
WATTPAD This one lets you write a story. I'd never
heard of this one before but now I've checked it out it is quite interesting you write you
story and then other people can comment after each chapter and vote or share. So you are
getting feedback on what you are writing.
Next we've got piano tiles this is a simple but addictive free game where you have to
tap on the all black or colored tiles and avoid all the white ones as fast as you can.
To make the logo cut a square out of white and out of black and the cut each of those
into quarters. Use two from each to join them together to make the checkerboard look and
then just use a little water to join them together to make them stick.
    Now the top
most requested apps. At number ten we have KIK which is a messaging app for
smart phones so that you can message instead of smsing
And we have at number 9 YOUTUBE* You should know how to use the YouTube app,
because you're watching youtube so I am not going to explain this one. Cut a square out
of red and then cut a rounded rectangle of white and add it on top. And then cut a tiny
triangle out of red and add that on top.
At number 8 we have KIM KARDASHIAN hollywood. I didn't like this game, I am really sorry
girls. But if you read the ratings on games they are there to help you make wise decisions
for yourself or your kids if you are the one controlling what they get it is rated
for mature/suggestive themes, horror themes, violence, alcohol tobacco and drug references,
crude humour and mild sexual content and nudity. Lets go on to the next one.
Coming in at number 7 was Vine which is an app where you can post and watch
videos to share and just like youtube there are some are good and some rubbish ones.
Roll and cut out your background colour then roll a snake of white fondant. Starting at
the top corner there drape it down to make a v shape and then use a knife to make it
more pointed down at the bottom there. And then loop the end bit around to make a curve
    and then trim it off.
At number 6 we have TWITTER and I assume you know this one, you can tweet short
    character
text messages publicly or privately to a person who is following you.
Cut out a blue square and then a circle out of white. Make a cut like your making a pacman
and then round one corner of that.
On the opposite side make a cut following the line of where the body of the bird is.
And then trim off the wing section to make it smaller because it is way too big there.
Then slice it into three sections. Use your skewer to pull a little point for the beak
and then place it onto the blue
Lets pause our top ten count there to make the symbols that go down the bottom really
quickly. For sms cut out a circle of green and then
make a ball of white squash it and use your knife to shape the triangle part. Then add
it on top. For emails cut out a square of blue then a
small rectangle of white then indent the envelope shape into the white using your knife and
add it on top. For the safari symbol add a circle of blue
on top of a square of white. The roll some red really thinly and put that on top of some
white and cut out that compass needle part. Add that to the middle then make indents all
the way around the circle. For itunes cut out a red square and then use
a snake of white fondant to make the music shape note.
Back to our count, at number 5 most requested by you was the FACEBOOK app and I'll show
you tumblr at the same time because their logos are so similar. Tumblr actually came
in at number 11. Roll out some white, rub a little oil onto
it. Cut out the letters and place them onto the fondant, then dust with blue powdered
food coloring. Dust off any excess then remove the paper and cut them out using your square
    cutter.
MINECRAFT There are so many youtube channels devoted to this game that I think it needs
    no introduction, was at number
Now at number 3 we have FLAPPY BIRD. Mix some green and blue and roll it out then
cut using a square cutter. Roll a small ball of yellow and flatten it. Then add and oval
of orange for the beak, and a white circle for the eye and a yellow wing. Then use a
marker to dot or draw on all those pixelated looking edges.
Flappy birds was a very popular app and it had more that
creator removed it from the app store saying that it was too addictive and he was getting
too much bad feedback. There were rumours that he had it taken off because of copyright
violations but apparently that is not true. It is now available again on amazon fire tv
but not in the app store.
Trim off any excess of that yellow and then add it to the square.
At number 2 most requested was SNAPCHAT. I can't believe that this number
I don't use this one but basically you send a picture or video to someone and it deletes
within a few seconds of them opening it. In a UK survey
received inappropriate pictures on snapchat. Roll out a square of yellow.
Make an oval of white, then flatten it out. Then use a straw to push it up on each side
of the base and in at the sides. Make two slices in the base and then place it on top
of the yellow. And then use your skewer to pull some fondant
from underneath to make the little arms.
Number one most popular which I like as well, YAY. Was instagram. You share your photos
or your little short videos and then you can follow other people whose feed you like as
well. You can follow howtocookthat on instagram I'll put a link below to all the different
social medias that I'm on if you haven't yet found those.
Use your cutter to cut a strip of brown and add it to the top of a white square then.
Roll a ball of white and squash that in the middle. then add a ball of black. Roll a snake
of yellow green red and blue. These need to be really tiny and add them to the top corner
    and then trim them off.
To make the background of the iPad roll out some white fondant and then add paper towel
where the clouds are. Then sprinkle it with raw sugar and spray
it with some food colour spray. Making it darker at the top. I'm then adding some more
black food colour at the top too and blending it in with my finger, if you have black spray
that would be even better. Once it is dry brush off the sugar and you
can see all your stars left there. Roll a strip of blue and place it across the
bottom. Then roll out some white and place it around
the ipad, using some baking paper just to smooth out those joins.
Place the template over the top and trim it to the right size and then add circle indents.
Now add in all of your apps that we've made using a little bit of water to make them stick
and then use a ruler to line them up neatly.
To make your apple logo on the side of the box cut out a circle and push it up at the
base with something round like a straw and then down at the top with something straight.
Flatten out the lower sides on each side and then cut out the leaf shape. Brush that with
silver luster dust and then add it to the cake using a little bit of water.
To make the print out ipad roll out some white fondant to the right size. Rub the back of
the printout the backing side of the bench to loosen it
And then carefully peel off that backing. Place your icing onto the fondant and then
use the backing to rub the top of it to make it smooth.
Then trim it along the edges.
For both of these you can make the fondant really thick if you want to make it the right
thickness for your iPad. Or if you wan to make it taste really good you can make a backing
    out of chocolate.
Just temper some chocolate and spread it out. Then add your iPad on top and once it is firm
trim up the edges using a knife.
Place some grey fondant into a fondant extruder and make a long strip, alternatively you could
roll out the grey and then use a ruler to cut the strip. Dampen the sides of your ipad
and add it all the way around the edge.
Add now your ipad is ready to add to the top of your cake and you can serve it up.

    done
high analytical welcome back to my cupcake addiction
today I have teamed up with the lovely Jan from cookies cupcakes in cardiac
and we've come together to create if also rain both deals K
Jen giving you guys the recipe bought this kills poke cake
and skills first a and I'm showing you did easy and gorgeous decoration
    technique
we did a rainbow cake and cake with our Rainbow going inside
let's get started I've got making up to Jen today so you need to be fed her
    channel which
I willing to gamble I to check out a skittles poke cake
recipe from iPad a rolling pin and I've got them about skittles
said you sure the I will link to the still standing sugar recipe into trial
    down below
as well as ambiguous any sugar if you don't feel like using a skittles
    flavored
I've got that in all the different colors in the Rain Bird
I needed some red ribbon melted white chocolate
three blocks Up Kit Kat I've got some plain flour for dusting my staff is
and I've also got a batch about vanilla sugar cookie dough so I'll leave that
recipe and the link to the video if you'd like to watch
in the Description box below a paintbrush a pastry brush
a pizza cutter at the rate edged knife paris's
an edible marker I've got a ziploc bag and I've got five
large packet the skittles you need as many he can get enough to be too pure
colors but you'll have plenty of Skittles leftover
sprinkled on a generous amount on your plain flour and using a rolling pin you
    just wanna brawl at your
killed cookie dough into like a long rectangle shape
take a pay cut and you want to cut like a high often
Oct shape over rainbow SS lightly FINA at the base
slightly fatter the top and cut this long living in a you can always cut some
    off once baked
econ add anymore onto a baking tray bake in a moderate oven for seven to ten
    minute
and to the edges just flatly stuck ten golden brown want it completely cool you
can pick it up in just
size it up against a side to be okay you don't want to be too long or to be too
top heavy thundery cut mine off that he a
come down quite a bit shorter in the cake make the cut using a serrated edge
    knife
take a pastry brush in your white chocolate and you want to brush both
sides the bottom three inches the cookie
and then all the way over the back we're doing it because I thank you gonna make
it will be watertight and it's not good times or more stuff from the cake making
    it soggy
now you want to use your edible mocca and iight mocked absolutely even
intervals along the way the web but seven colors I need seven line so I want
to make sure that I kind of keep each color about the same way
to apply my standing sugar I started with a paintbrush and just painted a
    little section and then
place if any sugar on top kind of sprinkling it but this
actually proved to be problematic because my chocolate with drying too
fast so I switched to the plot bag method
so but the watch up in the book bag and snip a very fine tip
around them painted on the paintbrush squat on them with that
white chocolate using it you know the book bag try roughly follow the lines
that you've mocked and the line at the loft color
and are you feeling about a high of a one other lines at a time
once you've got that wet melted chocolate you can take a generous man
and your skill sending sugar and sprinkle it on top
one simpler all the way on top just kitchen knife to trim it down
the back edge and that will leave you a nice straight edge be on next color so
I'm just gonna be moving away any extras
white then issued a completely dry before tapping of
any excess for my topic alert I used a piece of paper to
    protect the colors
underneath that I wasn't getting a ton ingrained in my blue sprinkles
and I want to get it on a blue in my pain you don't think in the paper she
    adjusted to ride paintbrush
to kind of clean up any green snuck into your blog
repetitive all the colors in your a known this is essentially making alittle
rainbow sugar cookie you spending should be you can you feel fairness you or you
    can use just
regular sprinkles here you can also just paint on the palate is a different color
candy mountain or you can cut strips upon that there's a ton of options
if you've never made a cake cake before the better to separate
kick capping it is to cut them in to you if you try and break them they have a
tendency to break a little bit rough but if you cut them they feign not been a
and then really nice and neat to put together and the cake if you're having
any trouble with you okay kept sticking to the scientific a
chill apply at then additional card about a crane so you actually
attaching to wet but a crane not to drive crafted by the crane
and then you simply taking your kit kat pieces and sticking them all around that
    cake
want your cake surrounding you just serrated edge knife

    have just a enough line
into the center go pay and then drive that cookies to write down into the
    middle
you better cut that slate smaller rather than logic because you want to be a
    really snug fit
to hold that cookie in place now once you could even play
you want to taking one featured your schedule colors and place it at bay
over the rainbow at the law I love the color that occur response to the Red
it'll go down below the redline Exeter Exeter
my chosen design yet looks amazing but does require a bit of time in
    ghetto plaything probably about
to 40 minutes all up I think it took me
so basically I'm just following the line from that fact Cal its ghetto
I'm coming all the way around the outside edge in the rain by
in the one direction this is designed to look like the rain both kind of come
into the cake and it's continuing around
on top of the cake so an actual uniform rainbow thought a shape
oppose a deorbit time poor you can just take all your skittles
and shot them straight into the Company K which all baby the time in separating
    them
with any k cat /k get better have we been around the outside which covers up
the line that you get in the middle of the cake at family block but it also
holds everything together tho I opted for
threatening him with a knife big red bar which matches the man after dole's rapid
the final Potter backache and I think the most impressive is taking up to
    one-third NP skittles wrapper
so be nice when you open them you wanna paint in the new zip lock bag a bit of
melted white chocolate about the top
inch or so on the enough back side about packet
sticking that backside up against the back side love your cookie and leave a
difference on the packet hanging open
you need to support that for about 30 seconds author and do that chocolate
stout to become tacky and stop to set
so they've got your absolutely gorgeous skittles
rainbow effect cake it's always kind of like an allusion effect
you've also got that fabulous kills poke cake recipe and it kills frosting recipe
    brought to you by Jen
over at cupcake carrier I'm leaking too heavy a and hes channel down below I
feel like I said make sure you go and check her out
as though it does thanks very much for tuning in to my cupcake addiction *** *** LEGO CITY POLICE CAKE How To Cook That Ann Reardon - YouTube !!! English English Add subtitles/CC
Welcome to How To Cook That I am Ann Reardon
Today we are making a lego city police station cake at the request of my youngest.
To start with we need to make a lego texture mat. Take a lego base board and make a border
around the edge using lego bricks. Then heat up some reusable food grade molding gel.
Pour it in and tip it and spread it until it goes all the way to the edges. Then let
that cool and set. For the frosting take one batch of vanilla
buttercream and mix it with a cooled batch of milk chocolate ganache.
I'll put all of the recipe quantities for this on the website howtocookthat.net in grams
and ounces and cups. You will also need two trays of chocolate
cake, baked, cooled and leveled. Place your template on top and cut around
the shape of the first building. And the template is also available on the website.
Place it on a spare cake board or a plate and add a thin layer of frosting. Then continue
to stack up those layers of cake until they match the height of the front template.
Then cover the whole thing in frosting.
Repeat that in the same way for the next two buildings layering them up and then covering
them in frosting. Then place them in the fridge for the frosting to chill and firm so that
they are a bit more stable.
By now your molding gel should be set, remove the bricks from the edge and peel it off from
the base board. And you now have a nice lego texture mat.
Place some light grey fondant over a cake board and roll it out fairly thinly. Add the
texture mat over the top and using the rolling pin press down firmly all over the surface
. Then simply peel it off.
Take a knife and trim around the edges of your board. And we now have our lego base
    board.
Take some more light grey fondant and use the texture mat to make an impression.
Then using a pizza cutter cut out a 7 x 8 rectangle. Then cut out a section from the
top of that and base to make the letter for the helipad. Use the side of your knife just
to straighten up the sides because lego doesn't bend.
Roll out some black and put the texture mat over the top.
Then using the shapes that you used for the cake cut out one of those for the top of each
building, making then a little larger to allow for frosting and fondant on the sides.
Repeat that process to make some green 2 by
use you knife to make sure it is straight on the edges.
Roll out some yellow and grey fondant. Rub a little water on the yellow and add the grey
to the top. Slice it into little pieces the size of a
two by one. These will be the lights for around the top of the building.
Now lets make the windows for the police office building. Roll out some white and cut it out
using the templates. Remember that you need to do the front one side and the back too.
I just have the front and one side here. Mark off the centre line with a slight indent and
add a vertical line too. Using a dry brush add some gold luster dust
in each window corner and then brush blue over the top of the whole thing.
Add some strips of white across the base of each window. You'll need to dampen the back
of the fondant to make it stick. Then trim it to size.
Cut a strip of blue and place it across the top of each window.
Then place a strip of blue up between each window and along the edges.
Now for the prison cut out some black fondant and brush with a little silver luster dust.
Then rub a little water across to dampen that fondant. Roll a snake of light grey and place
it across, using your template as a guide for where to put those bars. Add them on the
bottom windows and then going down the centre of each window. Then add strips of grey down
and strips of grey across. Cut a strip of white and add that across the top. Add another
one along the bottom of the jail cell and then add a thinner strip down each side on
two of the jail sides only, don't do it on all four of them.
For the garage door. Cut a square of white then make indents across
and down. Brush it over with blue luster dust and add a strip of white across the top.
Roll out some blue using the lego on the sides to guid how thick it needs to be.
Then cut some strips the width of a two block.
Roll out some thin strips of white and add them to the top of the front fondant police
    station part.
To the other smaller front bit add a strip one side and a half a strip to the other smaller
front bit and leave the last one plain.
Using edible white food colouring write police down the front of the blue support.
For the police sign Cut a square of white and put two blue strips across the top. All
of these fondant details can be made up to a month ahead which will give them time to
dry out. If you need to make it for a cake today or tomorrow then add some tylose powder
to the fondant which will make it dry out faster.
Add the cake for the police station onto the cake board. Then add the two smaller pieces,
followed by the front one. Now put a strip of white along the corner there using a little
water to hold it in place. Add the side and then the back of the station.
Add the black roof on top and then add a strip of white to cover the join.
For the jail add the piece that has white sides, followed by one that does not. Repeat
with the other two. Then add strips of white the the two sides that need it. Then add the
black roof on top. Choose the best side of the jail and add it
into place next to the police station. Cover the whole garage in white fondant then
add the door to the front and the roof to the top. Then add a strip of blue along the
edges and add it into place. Add your fondant grass piece out the front.
Use some spaghetti to support the lights while they set. Just use a little bit of water on
the back of the fondant to join them onto the cake.
Add the front of the station, again you may need to use a little spaghetti to support
it while it's drying out and joining on. Use edible marker to write the police sign
and add it to the top of the jail.
Add some strips of blue and the helipad to the top of the police station and a cylinder
of white and red. The next day remove that spaghetti.
And add a lego police car and robber and policeman out the front.
And your lego city cake is complete. If you have a helicopter you can add that on the
    helipad too.
    Big one, blow Yay

with permission] *** *** How to Ice a Cake with Whipped Cream | Cake Decorating - YouTube !!!
Hi. I'm Katie, and today I'm going to show you how to ice a cake with whipped cream.
I'm using homemade whipped cream. All I did was take, this is called a balloon whisk,
mostly because of the shape. It's very large and round and it gets a lot of air very easily
into whatever you're whipping. Nice cold heavy cream, a little bit of confectioner's sugar
just to sweeten it up, a little vanilla or anything you like. And all I'm doing is whipping
from side to side. We're looking for nice medium or stiff peaks.
Now all I'm going to do is take my two layers of cake, I have a vanilla cake, this is also
great with ice cream cakes actually. So I'll just take a big dollop of whipped cream, put
it right on the center of my cake with a rubber spatula, and just use a, this is a large offset,
to just push the whipped cream all over the surface. And if you wanted to, it's actually
really fun to soak your cake before you put any sort of filling, especially a light filling
like whipped cream. So if you took a little sugar and water and brought it to a boil and
added a little alcohol, or a little flavoring of some kind, it's a really nice thing to
    do.
All I'm going to do is take my top layer and just, watch the crumbs, and just put it right
on top. And any bits that fall off just glue it back together. That's it.
Make sure all of your cake crumbs are out of the way before you start frosting, so that
way it won't be in your frosting. And I'm going to take the rest of my whipped cream,
and just right on top, a nice big dollop. Remember this is really only lightly sweetened.
If you like a really sweet whipped cream, add a little bit more confectioner's sugar,
but it's nice, just a light fresh topping. Take my large offset and just push the whipped
cream down so that it's covering the surface.
And if you wanted to, you could leave this cake open-faced, so it just spread it over
the top and don't cover the sides. But I'm just going to kind of turn my cake plate,
my turntable, and push the whipped cream out so it covers all of the edges, and then just
start to work it down the sides. So you can see the motion that I'm using, is I'm angling
it down and just kind of gently pressing towards myself, just to push down the edges.
And once everything is covered, keep making your way around. Make sure there are no little
areas that are left untouched. You can either take the same spatula or spoon and just make
little swooshes for more of a rustic design, or if you're looking for a really smooth surface,
take a bench scraper and pull towards you, and any extra just kind of pop it right off.
And then I'm going to start on the top and just take it and angle it towards me. And
just pull and wipe off. Just clean it up and that is it. Take a little wet paper towel
and just clean up your edges and you're ready to go.
That's how you decorate a cake with whipped cream topping. *** ***
