    excited to team up with Nestle Toll House and bring you guys and amazing
    rainbow love hot surprising side bun cake this is perfect Valentine's Day but
    also an amazing cake to share all year round the things that you get a need
    anything Nestle Toll House morsels today
    Nestle Toll House cocoa powder you'll need the food colorings and make them
    nice and bright and I've also got some flour I've got bada vanilla a little oil
    and I've got some Suga you'll also need some with Ukraine Yulia Volkova
    measurements down below as well as conversions depending on where you are
    and whether you think self-raising flour or plain flour all-purpose flour with a
    little pinch of baking powder in love huh cookie kinda since nafta bags I've
    got a serrated bread knife and anything quite a large trade a cookie tray or

    over to the side let's get started the first thing you want to do is gonna make

    just so that I can get a really neat feel so you gonna come in and I'm gonna

    Welcome to How To Cook That I am Ann Reardon
    Today we are making a broken heart cake modeled on the cake in the Taylor Swift song Blank
    Space from her
    album. So so many requests for something Taylor Swift.
    To make this you will need a double quantity of vanilla buttercream and recipe video for
    that is on the channela nd on the website howtocookthat.net You'll also find the recipe
    there and the video showing how to make the sponge cakes .
    You'll also need some white chocolate melts and strawberry or raspberry sauce.
    Firstly level the top of your cakes so they are completely flat.
    Then use the back of your knife and press gently in the middle of the cake to make an
    indent. Then turn your knife
    degrees and make another indent across so you've marked
    the cake into quarters. Carefully cut out one of the quarters and
    then on the opposite side of the cake cut straight across where those two indents come
    to the edge there. And then do the same thing on that quarter
    piece that we cut out before so that you are making it into a triangle.
    Then add that triangle to the other side of the cake.
    Trim the corners off the top and then use your knife to round it out so that you've
    got a nice heart shape and repeat that with your other cake as well.
    Place one of the hearts onto a round cake board and sketch out an oval shape. We are
    going to decorate it to make it a bit similar to the platter in the clip. If you can find
    one of those platters you can just use that but this just makes it easy for you to use
    a cake board. Cut that out and then melt your white chocolate
    melts in the microwave.
    seconds stir, 20 seconds stir and then
    seconds stir until
    it is melted. Pour that over your cake board and
    spread it out. Lift up your cake board and tap it underneath
    to get that chocolate nice and smooth. Heat up a knife and use it to smooth the edges
    so that it is not bumpy and leave it to set.
    On some baking paper trace around the cake so that you've got the heart shape. Then flip
    that over so you don't get the pencil on the chocolate that we are going to use.
    Pour some chocolate on and then spread it out, you don't want this to be too thick because
    remember you want to be able to cut a knife through it easily so spread it out fairly
    thin. You can do it thicker on the edges if you want but keep it fairly thin in the middle.
    And you will need two of these so grab another piece of baking paper and make another one.
    Place the cake onto some baking paper and use some buttercream to join the two heart
    bits together. Then spread some buttercream on top and the
    sides. Then add another heart on top. And spread buttercream all over the cake.
    Take clean clear piece of plastic and holding it firmly at the base run it up the sides
    of the cake to smooth it out, we are going to add more butter cream so if it not exactly
    correct it doesn't matter just get it fairly smooth. When you get around to the top top
    of the heart you can bend that plastic around so that it matches the curve of the cake and
    run it up. So it just makes it really easy to smooth it.
    Then use a spatula to pick it up and put the whole heart onto the chocolate coated cake
    board. Peel one of the hearts off the baking paper
    and add it to the top of the cake, push it down firmly but not too hard you don't want
    the break it, because then you'll have to begin again.
    Pipe some buttercream around the edge to outline the heart and then repeat that again so you
    have a double layer of frosting going around there and make sure there are no gaps in it.
    Because this is like our barrier or our pool edge so it's important.
    Now pour in the strawberry sauce so we have a beautiful RED heart there in the middle.
    Add the other chocolate heart on top and push it down again not too firmly, make you that
    you push down just on the edges not in the middle when you do this.
    Add another thin layer of frosting all over the top and then spread it out and smooth
    it using your spatula and the plastic just like we did before.
    Then CHANGE to a small star shaped tip and pipe little stars of buttercream all the way
    around the top edge. And if anyone is thinking I wish you would show us how to do this without
    a piping bag, I have a video on that, I'll link you to that in the description below.
    Then pipe stars all the way around the base of the cake where it meets the cake board
    and then another line of stars just above that first one all the way around the edge.
    Now to make our cake board look pretty, put some melted chocolate into a piping bag with
    a small round tip, or you could just use a ziplock bag with the corner cut off. Pipe
    little dots all the way around the whole way around the oval.
    Then on each side pipe a dot sort of just a little way in from the edge and then put
    six dot as around like you've got a circle or a little flower. Then draw a line of dots
    going around the circle and up towards the cake curving in and then out. Do another line
    of dots on the other side of that circle just to match it there.
    Now pipe a swirl of chocolate swirl around and down around that circle and back up the
    other side and curve it around. Add a couple more long swirls to each side and then two
    more shorter ones just to give it some style.
    Let that chocolate set and then use some white luster dust and a dry paint brush and brush
    over the platter. Now I know places like cake decorating stores sell luster dust. People
    always ask where can I get it, It is edible and it's called luster dust you can just look
    it up online. And it just makes it look a little shiny, pearlized and pretty.
    For the full taylor swift effect stab your knife into the cake and if you want splatter
    just shake it off the knife. If this was a movie we'd add special effects, but it is
    not it is a real cake.
    Now slice into the cake the strawberry sauce will flow over and out of the cake.

    in all you do is you place the square cake
    on your cake board and so that it's like a diamond shape

    is to just make each cramped as even as possible

    Welcome to How To Cook That I am Ann Reardon Today we are making this cute and colourful
    heart inside cake. A few of you sent me pictures of similar style
    of cake that you'd seen on tablespoon.com and that particular one was made by Beth from
    the blog Hungry Happenings she'd made it for them and they were both happy for me to make
    it for you, so here we go.
    Firstly mix 3 packets of cake mix together and add the required ingredients according
    to the packet and then mix it together.
    Then split that mixture evenly between 5 different bowls.
    And then it is time to add your colour, now you are going to need to be fairly generous
    here or the shape is not going to stand out from the plain cake. So these colours need
    to be reasonable dark.
    Once your happy with the colours place them into sandwhich bags, twist the top and cut
    off the corners.
    Squeeze out some of your coloured mix onto a tray lined with non-stick paper. Then swap
    to the next colour, and swirl that all over the tray and keep going. Now for this tye
    died mixing effect Beth actually learnt this idea from another website handmadecharlotte.com
    and one of their contributors Sandra who actually heads up the art department at a uni in Kansas
    came up with this technique for the cake that she made there.
    Keep adding more and then once you are done tap the tray on the bench to get rid of any
    air pockets.
    Place it in the oven and then bake it until it is cooked all the way through.
    Once it is cooled remove it from the tray and trim off the top browned layer using a
    knife or a cake leveler.
    Take the cutter and cut out a heart or whatever shape you have chosen and then the base base
    off the shape because we don't want browned cake to be down the middle of our cake. Now
    obviously as I said you can use any shape you like just make sure that it will fit into
    your tin, that it is not too tall for your cake tin. Place them on a tray and once we've
    cut them all we are going to freeze them. This particular amount of mixture made enough
    hearts to do two of these cakes. So if you're only wanting to make one you could cut it
    in half.
    Line a loaf pan with foil and bring the sides up higher than the actual pan so the mixture
    will not overflow in the oven.
    Make up two more packets of vanilla cake mix. Place two cups of mixture in the base of the
    dish. Now I baked this for
    minutes because the shape tends to sink and I don't want it
    right on the bottom I want it more in the middle. After this time it will not yet be
    cooked but will have formed a light skin on the top. Add some mixture down the centre
    of that, that's going to go into that little dip in the centre of the heart. And then stack
    your hearts and place them top side down into centre of the tin. If the edges of your dish
    are sloped out like mine you may need to cut one of them on an angle for the last one.
    So that you can pack them in tightly, that's going to help hold them into place. Cover
    over the whole thing with more cake mixture. And then bake in the oven.
    One it is done let it cool then trim off the outer browned layer so that it leaves nice
    straight sides. Cover the whole thing in frosting, I am using
    the one that came with the packet mix. Once it is smooth place it in the fridge.
    To make our tye died frosting take a snake of each of the colours that you have chosen
    and gently twist and squash it together, then twist it a bit more and squash it together
    and then roll it out. I used neon food colours for this which I have not used before and
    I thought it had a really metallic taste to them. It is up to you if you want to use them
    that's fine otherwise just use normal food colours. Everyone else who ate it thought
    it was fine I just thought it had a bit of an after taste to it.
    Lift it up and place it over the cake. Trim off the excess, when you get to the corners
    squash them together to seal it and then use scissors to cut down the join. Gently rub
    it with your finger just along the cut there to smooth the edge. Add you candles and cut
    to reveal your colourful heart shape in the middle.

    So, if you're looking for something special to make, watch this video
    I'm going to show you how to make a delicious chocolate cake with hidden red hearts inside
    This cake is amazing!
    It's going to make your friends and family go Wow!
    and by the way, you will need any special molds to make it
    For the ingredients and the written recipe, just look below the video in the "About" section
    and you will be ready to go!
    That's it! So Let's start!!!
    First, we are going to make the red cake.
    Place the softened butter in a large bowl, add the sugar
    then beat on high speed with the eggbeater until the butter and sugar are well integrated.
    Add the first egg. Mix.
    The second egg. Mix.
    Then the third egg and mix again.
    Add the vanilla paste or vanilla extract and mix to incorporate.
    Now, let’s add the dry ingredients.
    Sift the flour, add the baking powder, and a pinch of salt.
    Using a spatula, gently fold the dry ingredients into the butter mixture.
    I want my cake to be red, so I am using bright red coloring….
    Check out this delicious color, it screams valentine’s day!!!
    Butter your baking pan and pour the red cake batter into it.
    Bake in a pre-heated oven to
    F /
    C for around
    minutes or until the cake is done.
    When the cake is ready, remove it from the oven
    gently push the sides of the cake using a knife
    then flip it on a plate or cutting board
    Place the cake in the freezer so it cools down quickly while you prepare the second cake.
    Here we go, let’s make the chocolate cake.
    We are going to follow the same steps
    cream the softened butter and sugar
    mix in the eggs one at a time, add the vanilla paste
    sift in the flour, add the baking powder, and pinch of salt.
    The cake batter is ready!
    Before we add the melted chocolate, let’s make our red cake hearts!
    Remove the red cake from the freezer and slice it into medium-thick slices.
    Discard the edges because they are crunchy, and we only want soft spongy cake for this part!
    Line up the cake slices
    then using a small heart cookie cutter (or any shape of your choice), stamp out

    Ok, back to our chocolate cake.
    Melt the chocolate in the microwave, in
    second shots and mix in between. so you don’t burn it.
    Then add the melted chocolate to the cake batter.
    If we have done this earlier, the chocolate batter would have hardened
    and it would have been difficult to work with it.
    That’s why we leave the melted chocolate until the end.
    Butter your pan and pour in
    of the chocolate batter.
    Using a spoon, smooth out the surface of the batter.
    Pack the heart shaped cut outs together, tightly, in
    and gently place them on top of the chocolate batter.
    Leave some space at each end of the pan.
    Gently place the remaining chocolate batter on top of the red hearts.
    Very gently, don’t try to smooth it out, just place it on top and on the sides
    the heat of the oven will make it spread evenly.
    Bake in a pre-heated oven to
    F /
    C
    for
    minutes or until the cake is done.
    Here is my beautiful chocolate cake. It’s ready!
    When you touch the surface of the cake it should feel firm but not hard – that’s how you know it is ready.
    Using a knife, gently push the sides of the cake form the pan
    then flip the cake and let it cool down completely before serving.

    Hey guys, it’s Ro! Welcome to another Nerdy Nummies!
    Today is very special, because it’s only 2 days until Valentines, so I wanted to make
    something really special. Last year I made a companion cube cake from portal,
    so I thought this year for anniversary, I’m gonna make the traditional Portal Cake.
    But, with a twist. The twist is going to be this really cool cake pan that I got
    on Think Geek, that when you put the 2 cakes together, It’s gonna form a heart
    in the middle, awww! A little heart!
    Alright, so let’s get started!
    The things you will need, will be: This very fancy cake pan, it’s a Wilton cake pan
    and I’ll put a link down below so if you’re interested in getting it you can
    check it out. And it comes with these 2 pans, part A and B.
    Water, vegetable oil, 2 box cakes of chocolate cake mix,
    and a must-spatula. Let’s put it all together!

    Now mix it all together on a low speed for about
    Da-dew! Once your cake batter is all beat and it’s all smooth, we’re gonna pour it
    into the cake pans, and the side that we’re gonna pour them in are this side.
    Not the side with the nubs, the deeper side!
    But first we’re gonna spray a little spray, grease the pan, you can also use butter,
    that’s fine, anything that’s gonna make a natural grease.
    And then just pour it in, all around!
    There we go, oh! Nice and smooth!
    Oh that’s great!
    Now you’re gonna heat your oven to
    and bake for about
    minutes, just check
    them regularly by sticking in a little toothpick, and if you pull it out and
    no cake is sticking to it, then you know it’s good to go.
    Da-new! Cake’s readies!
    I just took the cakes out of the oven, and I gave them plenty of time to cool,
    so make sure that they are very cool before you do this!
    We have the top and the bottom, and what we are gonna do is level them so that
    they are flat. So you’re gonna take a cake leveler, I got this new
    And you’re just gonna walk it through the cake.
    Boop-boop-boop-boo-boo!
    Once we’ve leveled our cakes, we’re gonna flip them the other way like so, so that
    we can fill them, like so. So that the little nubs are facing up.
    Now take your pink frosting and put it in a plastic baggie. I just used pink food
    coloring dye and just added it to some basic frosting.
    Take your baking scissors and snip the tip… Bewp!
    And then fill in around the nub. Fill the frosting to the top so that it’s level
    with the rest of the cake, peschew! Oh it’s so bright! It looks so cool!
    Once you finish filling in both of the cakes, we are just going to stick these
    in the freezer for about
    minutes to let them chill, and then we’re gonna put them
    on top of each other. Mer-mer-mer-meh!
    I just took the cakes out of the freezer, I put the bottom one on this orange
    cake tray, you can put it on just a regular
    I just wanted to get festive, because it’s Portal!
    And then I put the top on this, and all we’re gonna do is line up this part and
    this part, and hope that this works! I’m really, really nervous!
    Oh god, oh god!

    and down, down! Down, down! Matching, matching!
    Boom! Hopefully this will work, and the cake will not be a lie when we cut into
    it, it will be a heart!
    Now we’re gonna frost the cake, I just took chocolate creamy frosting and put it in
    this big plastic bag. Now you’re gonna take baking scissors, snip the tip,
    merp-merp-merp-merp-merp!
    And then you’re just gonna take the chocolate and distribute it all over the cake
    and then take a spatula and just make it look really smooth.
    And a special thanks to the person who sent me this cake spinner, werrrrp!
    It is awesome! And has come in handy, thank you, thank you!
    Now our cake is totally frosted all the way around, peshew! Nice and chocolate-y!
    Now you’re gonna take cacao crushed beans, which is basically chocolate, chocolate
    beans. Place your cake over this pan, it’s gonna catch a little bit of the excess…
    Cacao beans!
    Cacao! I make it rain! I make it rain! I make it rain!
    I make it rain! Make it rain! Make it rain!
    Now that we’ve got all the cacao on our cake, we are gonna take white frosting
    in a plastic bag, and make 8 little circles, and the tip that I’m using is a #
    Once you have the 4 little white dots, now you’re gonna put
    each of them.
    Now you’re gonna take maraschino cherries and put them on top of each of your little
    frosting white balls. Om-mam-mam-mam-mam!
    And take off the tip… I can also tie a knot…
    I just swallowed part of it…
    Oops! Oopsies!
    Last thing, we’re gonna take a white long candle and put it in the center of the cake.
    Ta-da! We did it! We have made the Portal Cake! This was awesome, thanks you guys
