English (United Kingdom) English (United Kingdom) Hello and welcome to Cupcakes Addiction'sSpongebob Squarepants Pullapart Cupcake Cake where I'll be showing you how to make thiscrazy cool Spongebob Squarepants pullapart cupcake cake.Tools and equipments that we will be using today:And there is quite a lot. I am using a cake board. I've got a inchby inch cake board. That's my recommended size for this amount of cupcakes. And I'musing cupcakes today -- slightly odd number but that's alright. I've iced my board andI've given it quite a bit of a marble-y blue effect. You can see here that I've achievedthat effect by not quite mixing of all of the color paste through my colors so it'sa little bit marble-y. And I colored a little bit of [till] and a little bit of sky blue-- both Wilton colors. Then I twisted them together and rolled them out which gave methis lovely marble-y under the sea effect. I've got some melted dark chocolate.I've got fondant in white, red and a little bit of blue.I've got a fondant roller. A regular rolling pin will do.I've got some chocolate or brown-colored buttercream frosting in a piping bag. And I've pairedthat with a Loyal number piping tip. I've got some yellow buttercream frostingin a piping bag which I've also paired with that Loyal number piping tip.You can use any piping tip. It doesn't have to be the Loyal number 20.And we have a great recipe and tutorial for that buttercream frosting on our channel.I will leave a link in the description box below.I've a got pizza cutter. A knife or two. But a pizza cutter, I find a bit easier to workwith. A teaspoon. Some scissors. I've got an offset spatula. You can also usejust a regular knife or regular spatula. I've got a butter knife.A little bit of that perfectly pipeable buttercream frosting that I've tinted green.I've got two circle cutters. One of them is a ¾ inch or an 8 cm. and the other one is¼ inch or And underneath all of that, I've got two ziplock bags. There's quite a lot to this tutorial so let'sget started. In the description box below, I will leavea link to these printables. Now I've sized these out for you when youneed to print them out on two sheets of a full paper. One sheet is going to have your eye detail. And I've just cut around that eye detail. That's going to give us an indication of where about we're going to put the eyes on our Spongeboband how we're going to set them down there. I've also got another one which is the feetand the arms. These feet and arms are an optional extra. And I've printed mine out on a stickylabel or a sticky piece of paper. So I'm just going to stick those to the board. If youwant to go and cut them out of fondant, you can. It's a little bit more advance and alittle bit more time-consuming and no one is going to eat them anyway. So I've optedjust to stick them straight to the board on paper.Alright, firstly what we want to do is I've pre-stock my cupcakes down to that board. And to do that, I've just taken that yellow frosting. And I'll just show you with thisone, little bit of frosting on the bottom of the cupcake, like so. And place it down. Now that's going to stop those cupcakes from moving around. The first thing that we want to do after sticking them all to the board. You'll see here, I've positioned top row quite close together and then 3 ineach of the three rows after that with a little bit of space between them. That's just togive us that nice graded Spongebob feel and look because he's not entirely square. So I'm just going to pipe a bit of a blob of frosting into those holes and into thosegaps to give us a clean, neat, even surface to pipe the rest of our detail on.Now from here, I'm going to pipe nice big low swirl. We do have a whole tutorial dedicatedto this swirl on our channel. So I'm really just...I'm meeting up that frosting with thecupcake next to it. So you'll see there, I'm joining the cupcakes in the frosting sectionin the middle to leave a few gaps as possible. And I'm trying to go out over the edges ofour cupcakes. Alright, now with this very last row of cupcakes,I'm going to use that chocolate frosting and do the same thing but in brown for Spongebob'ssquare pants. Alright, now from here, we want to take theoffset spatula and I'm just going to smooth out that frosting. Don't worry if you do geta little bit of brown in the yellow, a little bit of yellow in the brown. Try not to makeit too messy but we're going to be putting a little bit of fondant over that later forhis, I guess, his little shirt. So, and don't smooth off the edges too muchbecause he is a sponge so he wants to have that kind of spongy looking look on the sideof him. Alright, so from here, we're going to takesome of this green buttercream frosting. Spoon a little bit of it into one of those zip lockbags. You don't need too much. Seal up the bag. And just before you seal up the lastbit, just push any air out of it. Now, I want to make some little, little spotson Spongebob. So I'm going to take that spoon and I'm just going to dig out just a coupleof little portions where I think I want to put spots. There's no hard and fast [route].Try not to put them around where his eyes are going to be, if you can avoid it.Now taking that zip lock bag, snip the little corner off. You're just snipping off a littlecorner and just fashioning that into a bit of a piping bag. Don't drop the plastic cornerinto your cake. And with your little piping bag, newly fashioned piping bag, just fillin those holes that you've just carved out. And I like to use just the tip of the pipingbag just to kind of smooth them off a little bit. So pipe it in and then just use end justto spin it around a little bit. And if you do have any of these little raisedbits, just grab your knife and just smooth them off. So that he's still all nice andsmooth. Alright, now the next step we want to do isgoing to be the fondant. So we'll just make a little bit of room here to roll some ofthat fondant out. I'm just going to pop down a little bit ofeither cornflour or icing sugar and that's just to prepare my surface to make sure thatfondant is not going to stick. Give it a little knead in between your hands. You know roll it into a bit of a sausage to begin with. Just flatten it out. Get a littlewipe in that cornflour. And then rolling it out. We're looking for a long rectangle sortof a shape. So that's why I started out with a sausage. It just makes it easier to getthat shape. Alright, once your fondant is rolled out,you want to take your little template. Now I can see there, it's a fraction small forthe frosting that's gone over. But what we're making out of this fondant here is this whiteshirt part. So looking at that, that's my estimate for how big I want to cut my whiteshirt. So I'm going to put that down on the piece of fondant and I'm going to cut justa little bit bigger than it on either side. And I'm going to cut straight across the topand then straight across, I guess, about an inch, an inch and a half, just to get a nicestrip. Lay it across over that joins so you can'tsee where that yellow has meet up with that brown. And then I'm just going to take myscissors again and just trim the edges so that they come in line with those cupcakes.Push it down on this side. Alright, there you have Spongebob little shirt. Now we want to do his eyes. So I'm going to roll that fondant up again and roll it outinto a nice big circle, a circle big enough. Now the circle cutter that I chose, you willnotice is the same size of Spongebob's eyes in the templates that I've provided. If youwant to do this cake any bigger, you can. But this is just a good size for the amountof cupcakes -- roughly a dozen, one more than a dozen, annoyingly one more than a dozen.Alright, now with this fondant, I'm going to cut out two eyes or two big whites of theeyes. With those whites of the eyes, we want tojust take out these little nicks here for the chicks and also a little nick for thenose. So on the cheeks, you can just place themover if you like so you can see roughly where you want your little nicks to come out of.Just a little nick there and another little nick there. And then, I'm not actually usingthe entire circle. I'm just sort of tilting it on its side, on a bit of an angle likeso just to cut out the shape of the nose out of each inside of the eye.Now before you do lay those bits of fondant down, just have another look again. Positionit so that you're happy with where those eyes are going. And I like to line the cheeks outwith the center of that second row of cupcakes. For me, that's just where I think it sitsnicely. So I'm just having a look at that and I'm working at how I'm going to stickdown my eyes. Alright, so I'm literally going to place themdown exactly where it looks like they went on my pictureWhen you join them up, you'll see you've got your lovely little nose cut out area and you'vegot your two areas for your lovely little red cheeks.Alright, now from here, we want also...[while] we got that lovely piece rolled out, justcut out a couple of teeth. Once again, if you want a bit of a guide as to how big thoseteeth should be, grab that template. That way we're keeping him kind of true to form. And just cut roughly a [tooth-y] type shape. Now don't worry too much if these are notperfect because we are going to edge them off in some dark chocolate. And you're goingto get that lovely black outline and everything. But it's just to give us a nice kind of ashape. For the teeth, I just want to just round themoff a little bit with my fingers. I'm not going to stick those down yet. I'm going tostick those down once I've actually piped my chocolate smile. Once again, just roundingthem off. Pop them off to the side. Alright, so now for the insides of the eyes,we're going to take some of the blue fondant. A little bit of cornflour down and roll itout. I'm rolling this quite thin because I don't want the eyeballs to stick up too muchof the actual eyes. So it is quite thin. Now I'm going to take my smaller cookie cutterand cut out two eyeballs. That's what we need the blue for. So with those two eyeballs,I'm just going to take a little bit of yellow buttercream frosting. You can also use justa little bit of water. Place just a tiny bit on the back and place them down. Now in my picture, you can see the eyeballs are nice and close to the center but not exactlyin the center. So I'm going to try and position that about the same- one and two. Put themdown. Alright, so I've had a bit of the tidy upand now it's time to do the red details. So I'm going to take that red fondant. Youreally don't need very much of the red fondant. Once again, knead it out just to soften ita little bit. Roll it into a ball and then squish it into a disc. And that really justsaves us rolling time- starts the rolling process for you.Alright, so we want to cut out a bit of a tie shape. Now for that part of the tie, I'mjust going to use small circle cutter again and cut it just in half. Use the smaller part. And then for the actual tie, I'm going to cut down, down, and then just a little [bit]of the end. I just want to neaten off the edges with my fingers. Just so there's nolittle rough freshly cut edges on it. Now before I actually stick that down, I justwant to position that and make sure that I'm happy with the length that it's going to be.That's about perfect. And with both of those pieces, once again, just a little bit of thatfrosting. First on goes the tie and then on goes ournice little tie circle. Alright, Spongebob is really starting to takeshape now. For the little details around his cheek, I'mgoing to roll just a very fine sausage. So you can see here, I'm using both of my handsand my fingers are evenly spaced apart so I get a nice even sausage. And I'm not evengoing to use any [of it] to attach that. I'm just going to sit it straight down. Top itup into the nice little nook of his eyes that you've cut out. And then just take a couplelittle bits of it. Roll them into balls and that would be his little red freckles.Alright, so it's time to take our melted dark chocolate. This is how we're going to achieveall of the details. So give that chocolate a stir. Do make sure that it's really niceand melted and try not to have any little chunks of chocolate in there. You want toreally melt it down because any chunks is going to block our little makeshift pipingbag. So I'm just going to pour that in to the secondzip lock bag. Once again, squeezing any excess air out. Seal it up. And then we're just goingto cut another little nip. Make this quite fine. Down the end to make a piping bag.So you should be getting a bit of a line that looks like that and squeeze it and just havea little test to make sure that you're comfortable on how it's going to pipe. I always find whenI pipe, it's best to attach it to the cake, lift it, drag it, attach it. It's just seemsto make for an easier piping. So we're going to start by piping around thetie. [I'm just cut our tip] of the piping a little bit. So just drag it along the edgesof the outlines of that tie. We want to give him a little lapels for his shirt. So I'mjust going to go down and up, down and up. Now I'm going to go across to the top andbottom of his shirt. So there's little blockages that I was tellingyou about. But if you do get a little blockage, squeeze it out on another surface. Don't tryto clear a blockage while you're actually doing the piping work.Alright, now from here, I want to pipe his smile. So I'm just going to pick up my templateagain. We're just having a look at that smile. So you want to come down just underneath theeyes. You can see there, I'm just trying to keep it about the same ratio so it's probablynot going to be perfect but we can get it pretty close.Let's start with either side. I'm nervous now. I'm not a very good piper. It's not mystrong [suit]. Okay, it's not too bad. It's not too bad.And then we're going to pop the teeth down -- roughly in the middle. And then pipe aroundthose. Now we want to pipe around the eyes and theeyeballs and internal eyes. So I'm going to start with internal eyes.As I'm piping, I'm not actually touching my bag to the work. I'm really sitting it abouta [ml.] or two above it and just letting that chocolate fall. Then, around the outside of the eyes and the nose. So I'm going to [start] with the nose.Alright, so last but not least, we're going to need his little belt across the very bottom. And that's probably the easiest piping of all, just a couple of little fat kind of astrips of dark chocolate there. So we're going to do four.Don't be too daunted by this piping. As I said, I'm definitely not a piping expert. Before I forget and finish out our tutorial, I best not to be forgetting his eyelashes. So about three, I think, on the top of each eye. One. Imagine that Spongebob fans everywherewould have been in uproar if I've forgotten his beautiful long lashes. So finally, as I mentioned, I've just got these ones on a little bit of sticky labelpaper or sticky paper. So I'm just going to peel them off and I'm going to stick themon right in the gaps of my little cupcakes there.Alright, so there you have your gorgeous Spongebob Pullapart Cupcake Cake -- perfect for anySpongebob fan in your house.
