How to Make a Tambourine | Musical Instruments
English - transcript English - transcript Aly Sunshine: Today we're making plastic bowltambourines. What you'll need: some ribbon, a hole puncher, a pair of scissors, some washers, and some jingle bells. What you're going to do first is you're going to take your plasticbowl or paper bowl of your choice, and you're going to take the hole puncher and you'regoing to place the hole puncher around the edge of the tambourine. You can do it aroundthe whole side like this, so there's holes on every side. Circle all the way around likeso. Next we're going to take our ribbon and our scissors and cut a few inches off of theribbon, like so. So we're going to tread a few of our washers through the ribbon. AndI'm also going to add a few jingle bells. These might be a little bit harder to thread. So once we have some washers and jingle bells on the tambourine, we're going to take theoutside of the bowl that we punched, and we're going to thread the ribbon through, like so.Now, you don't want to tie it too tight, because you want to still have that jangly sound. So tie it sort of loosely. Leave a little bit of room here. And we're going to tie it.So you're going to repeat those steps for all the other holes that you punched all theway around. You're going to thread the jingle bells and the washers all the way around likeso. I'm going to call my good friend Johnny Wheels to play some jingle bells with me.Johnny. Johnny Wheels: Hey, Aly. Aly: Hey, Johnny. Jingle Bells, jingle bells, jingle all the way. Oh what fun it is to ride on a one-horse open sleigh. Hey.
