How to Make a Tom-Tom Drum | Musical Instruments
English - transcript English - transcript Aly Sunshine: We're making instruments fromhousehold items. My name is Aly Sunshine, and today we're going to make a tom-tom drumout of an oatmeal container. You'll need an oatmeal container or any kind of cardboardtube, some balloons, some rubber bands, a scissor, and some pencils to act like yourhomemade drumsticks. Step one, you're going to decorate the tube. So I chose to make itlook like a real drum, got some construction paper and some stickers, got some ribbon.I think it looks really pretty. Different sizes have different sounds, actually. Andthen the next thing you're going to do is you're take the balloon, and you're goingto cut the balloon. I need a little help putting the drum together, so I'm going to have myfriend Johnny come on and help me put the balloon onto the oatmeal container. Hey, JohnnyWheels! Johnny Wheels: Hey, Aly Sunshine. Aly: What's up. So this balloon matches yourshirt. Johnny: It sure does. Aly: We're going to put the container on likeso, and we're going to secure it with a rubber band. Go ahead. Wrap it around. Great. Andthen we're going to do the same thing to the other side. We have to punch a hole throughit to get the bottom out. See, so you can see through it. And on the other side we aregoing to take the balloon and do the same thing that we did on the first side. So let'shold this down. Can you hold this down for me? Perfect. We're going to wrap the balloonaround the top, put the rubber band on it. Now we're going to play these drums. Whatdo you think? Will you using a little song? Play it out. Take your pencils, homemade drumsticks. This old man, he played one. He played knick-knack on my drum, with a knick-knack, paddy-whack,give the dog a bone.
